rocker arm falls off

Reoccurring problem. I've opened the valve cover and snapped it back on 3 times. The same one keeps popping off after a few startups. The truck is un-drivable while the rocker arm is off; rough low idle and dies. This is a common and well documented problem on both the 3.7 v6 and the 4.7 v8. I was surprised to not see it listed here. The video I attached is not my own, but shows the problem in a nutshell.

I had replaced my idle sensor and started to use High octane gas and my rough idle became minimal. Let me know if it works for you as well. Thanks

Dakota V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 29,000 miles

Duane Lane Dodge in Everett, WA insisted that I had to buy the 30,000 mile tune up to get the miss at idle repaired. I bought the extended warranty, yet they said it was not covered under the terms. After spending $900 to have them "service" the truck, it still misses. The truck is a gutless piece of crap. It is too big for a mid-size and is underpowered. Gas mileage is 17-18 MPG and it shifts up too soon. It feels like it is driving through wet cement because it is perpetually one gear too high for the conditions.

Duane Lane now refuses to even let me bring the truck in.

I am looking for a lawyer.

Dakota Larami 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,300 miles

Bought my new Dakota in March 2005 . It has been to the dealer an average of every 2800 miles. From Power windows popping, water leaking through the roof into the drivers side floor. Transfer case seal was leaking at 12,000 miles. EGR valve been replaced. Vibrations from the crappy goodyear r/t/s tires. It has idled like crap from day one , and they tried telling me everything from its a cross fire engine,,,,really. its normal. which I know it isnt, I am a master mechanic. Farrels on the power window buttons had to be replaced in the first six months.... I am getting too tired to type the rest. But you get my drift. I have had Dodge vehicles since the days of the good old slant 6. My next will definitely be a GM.
