My husband bought this truck back in October of 2007. He wanted it mostly for the 4x4. He likes fishing and thought this truck would be great for it. WRONG!! This past Tuesday him and a friend of his went fishing out at a game reserve which is public access. It was raining the night before so there were also mud puddles there. On his way in and out he had to go through one, much like the other cars that were there as well. When he went to leave the truck stalled. He restarted it and a few minutes later it stalled again except this time with a bang noise. It would not restart. He had the dealership that sold him the truck come tow it. He purchased additional warranty coverage called "Total Care" bumper to bumper for 3 years. The dealership called him today (4-17-08) to tell him that the warranty won't cover it and neither will the Total Care. They told him that when they took the engine apart there was water in the oil that caused pressure to build up and that it caused a rod to break (Hence, the "bang" noise). They also said it was called "Hydro Lock". Right now he has filed a complaint with our auto insurance and hopefully they will cover it but if they do it will cost a $500 deductible. The Total Care extended warranty cost him $1,200. FOR WHAT! I know this is absolutely ridiculous!! Having warranties and paying for extended warranties doesn't help the consumer. They only help the manufacturer. We also found out that the air intake is next to the tire. What a stupid place to put it on a 4x4 don't you think??
