Ok, so I was leaving to take my 12yr old son to the emergency room and I put my key in the ignition and nothing happened. I turned the key off, and I heard a constant clicking noise from around the glovebox.
I tried the parking lights, and the clicking stopped, but the lights did not come on.
I tried the headlights, and the clicking stopped, but the lights did not come on.
I tapped the horn, and the clicking stopped, but the horn did not honk.
I was PISSED to say the least.
I had to break into the glovebox because it is stuck shut. I break into it by sliding a knife into the handle and mess around with it until it crashes open. I pulled the whole damn glovebox out (I am a female keep in mind) but a very independent woman!
There was a metal box to the right of the glove box(if you take the glovebox out you can see it) and thats where the clicking noise was coming from. So, I tapped it (since another person with the same complaint did this) and nothing. However, the other person with the same complaint back in 2006 tapped on some plastic part. Not sure what that was, but I pulled the whole glovebox out to find where the hell this ghost was tapping on my glovebox trying to get out.
So, I called the mechanic here. He suggested I contact Dodge Dealership. My first thought, "I wonder what the hell this is going to cost me!!??!!" as I just injected $1,600.00 in it for the first time since I have had it, and it still makes the same damn noises it made before I took it to Car Doc. Dodge mechanic, Tom, said he would have Preston Towing bring it in for $55.00 and it would be $68.00 an hour to just diagnose the problem. Just what I needed to hear with my husband being in Iraq stressing over whats going on here anyway, I am getting ready to pay for a diagnostic test that I may not be able to pay to have fixed once its diagnosed!!!
So, Tom called me, 30 minutes later, with me still in tears, and says I got good news...something simple....I am replacing the positive connector on your battery and the total with towing and all is $104.00. I just wonder if it should have been more and he is just being nice to me because of my disposition at this time??>>??>>??>>?? At any rate, he advised he would call me back when its done so I could come pick it up! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO relieved.
So, thats all my issue was folks....I hope if this happens to you this is all it is, and not something to do with one of the relays!!
