(reported on)Durango Leather 5.2
- Automatic transmission
- 92,362 miles
My problem continues. So far, the air intake sensor and the throttle sensor have been replaced. This did not fix the problem. The problem occurs only during the day when the Las Vegas temperature is HOT! There is no overheating of the engine.
It is dangerous because it shuts down while driving in traffic. The service engine light does not come on. Consequently, there are no error codes for the diagnostic tester to display.

Durango completely shut down without warning when my 15 year old was driving today; this is the fifth time this has happened in the last six weeks. Thankfully, this has only happened while driving around town versus on the interstate. Regardless, this is an extremely dangerous problem.
I noted all the great info others have shared about this problem and relayed it to my local shop. I also called the dealer in Boulder that I purchased the vehicle from and they "have no knowledge" of a pattern of this being reported to them.
I have an appointment with the local shop and will share any relevant information, if any surfaces.
I would appreciate finding out from others if the distributor cap module or stepper motor have been positively correlated to this failure in their vehicles.
