Durango SLT 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100 miles

Car has 48,000 miles and transmission continues to sound like it is struggling and over-reving when first started. Dealer said this is a great transmission and it is normal for this to occur. I don't know if others are doing the same but I just do not feel it is normal. Fortunately we have not had any serious problems but the transmission still does not sound right. Anyone else having the same problem?

Durango SLT 4.7L

Have had this truck a little over a year. Check engine light came on. This is what it feels like: from a stop, the car starts in 2nd or 3rd gear and after driving, stays in that gear. Feels ‘lazy’, ‘sluggish’ during acceleration. Stays between 2k-3k RPM’s (trying to be gentle, too).

Problem occurred 2 months ago (while heading out on vacation up north-- looooong trip!! w/ snowboards and peeps in tow. ahhh!). Had mechanic check code. Found P1795- internal T. C. M. problem (P1795 Idle Switch Circuit Malfunction). Cleared code… truck ran fine. Said not to worry, yet. If it persists might want to look into replacing computer. Light came on again few months later. Even when light is on, sometimes truck will run fine and not feel ‘lazy’. Light will periodically shut itself off. Anyways, light’s been on/off past few days. NOW, it’s something to be concerned with.

Going to call the mechanic in the morning to see what he thinks now that the car’s been acting funny for the past few days. (this is gonna be expensive)

That’s been my only problem w/ this truck. Well, except of course for the struts. Car squeaks when going over bumps. Ball joints were replaced before I got it… let’s not get started on THAT issue!

Ps. Won’t get squat for trade-in. gonna suck it up and run it to the ground! Love the Durango, but very disappointed. Buying a Toyota next.

Had to take this to the dealership 2 other times before they would take me seriously. After they did, they replaced the o ring, low and reverse lever pin and Transmission solenoid govenor and transducer pressure sensor. What a bunch of crap. I am now at 92k miles and its doing the same thing. Since I have my repair order, I will know what to get and have my mechanic replace.
