Ok so I have read all the BEEF's on this problem. The truck stalls without warning! I have the same issue. I put $3400.00 into it to fix the issue and still nothing. I live in FL and drive an hour to and from work on the highway in 90+ degree weather. Yes it has stalled in heavy slow traffic. Like everyone else I will be in a parking lot, or pulling into my driveway which is a sharp turn and it wants to shut its self off. I have also stalled at a red light or a stop sign. So far the dodge works better if I do not run the AC in heavy traffic or in-town driving. But its cool now and I don't think I will be able to deal with the 90+ degree weather in July or August.

This is huge problem and needs to fixed. We spend our hard earned money on a product that should keep us safe. I owe over $12,000 on the Dodge still, and I am thinking to get rid of it regardless of the situation. I have 2mo old son and he means more to me than the financial crap I will have to go through to get rid of this POS. When Do We Get Our Bail OUT!

My 2005 Dodge Durango 5.7L HEMI is a piece of crap. I will never buy another one. I have been having a problem with it stalling without warning. The check engine lights comes on and off continuously. I am told that the code for it is the EGR valve. I have taken it to a few different repair shops, but of course no one seems to know why it keeps stalling. As far as the EGR valve, why does it cost so much to replace? I agree with another writer on this site, if Dodge knows about this problem of the engine stalling for no reason, then there will be hell to pay.

I have just gone and picked up my 05 Durango. They searched and found something to help correct a "Bad Engine Idle" situation in the computer code. So they updated the computer with the new release of the code and said that they think this will take care of things. I will report back if it didn't fix things but it sounds like a good start. Now if someone could just help me figure out why my garage door opener keeps opening my garage at random times by itself...

I bought this SUV back in Oct 2005. The first winter ... HERE IN SOUTHEAST TEXAS ... the truck stalls when I'm pulling into a parking space in work. It did that maybe twice that winter. Then in summer of 2006, when I was 8 months pregnant, my struck wouldn't start. I had roadside assistance on the phone to tow it for free to a dealership ... and after an hour of waiting in the heat ... the truck decided to start. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD EVER COME ON. The truck may have been taken in once for this reason but they never found anything wrong. NOW ... the check engine light has been on and off on and off for about a year. It stalls when coming to a stop... usually same place in the neighborhood when we first drive it in the morning. I have three small children. This problem is equivalent to seat belts coming undone in mid commute. If anything happens to my family because of this problem that Chrysler is well aware of ... it will be the biggest class action lawsuit against a manufacturer that the world has ever seen. I'll make sure I have every single Durango taken off the street. I am a nurse right now and plan on going to law school after I finish my bachelor's degree in nursing. Chrysler has a little more time to get their stuff together ... before something happens ... and they have to fight me and thousands of others ... for the biggest settlement in history. Families deserve safe vehicles. This is America. Build us reliable cars or we'll go foreign. Build us unsafe, unreliable cars that get our families hurt, and America has just become your biggest nightmare. We are a nation. We are strong. We will be heard.

Our durango kept stalling when backing up, turning, and then just driving. We took it to a dealership a couple of times and they found nothing. The last time we took it we told them that it was theirs until it was fixed, that was two weeks ago. They found that we needed new plug wires(which we did ourselves) and that we needed a new pedal position sensor assembly. We have not had any problems since then and the HEMI runs like it is brand new now. It also fixed the low idle problem.

The Dodge Durango has stalled on me trying to back out of a parking lot,and trying to turn in to a parking lot and also when i was trying to backup.and the last time it stalled is when i was coming home from work when the rail road lights started flashing i was slowing down to stop when the truck stalled making me lose braking i was already coming to a crawl when it stalled,i tried putting it in neutral and to restart it but it wouldn't start till i came to a complete stop.by the time the truck stopped the front of the durango was on the tracks with the southern rail roaring down blarring the horn.it started with no problem with only seconds to spare.took it to the dealer but they say can't find the problem.what the hell.why is there no recall on this

The same as everyone else!!!!!!!!! The things is stalling every time I come to a stop, or turn. It also stalled on the interstate in 5:00 rush hour traffic as I slowed in traffic. I am afraid for my children to ride with me. It has also done this with my husband driving and he was turning across oncoming traffic. Someone is going to get killed and then Dodge is going to have problems on there hands.

I have also had problems while entering on to the interstate so it is not just an in town problem. This is becoming very annoying, it is happening almost every single day now and 3-4 times a day. Yesterday it did it on a hill at a stop sign and I started rolling back and almost hit the person behind me. How would you explain your vehicle is a piece of junk to someone and that is why you rolled back into them!!!!!! I can not believe that Dodge has closed the recall and not bothered to look into this further with as many complaints as people are having.

WOW. Same here. We were told it was the ETS Valve by the local mechanic. Then we needed brakes (we were told the same day). Now, a few days later, our engine ticks when trying to start- I'm thinking it's the battery now. When will it end? We're stressed...and after spending $800 in one day on this car, combined with another battery (I'm sure now) for a car that only has 37,800 miles on it, I'm not only sickened, I'm upset.

I own a 2005 Dodge Durango, it began stalling 1 1/2 ago. While driving in hot weather with the AC on, it stalled turning into a parking lot. It happened 3 more times that Summer, I took it in to the Dealer, paid the $100 for the diagnostic test....they found no error codes. Unless it happened when they drove it, they couldn't help me. The past Summer it stalled 8 times while coming to a stop or slowing to make a turn. It happened also in the middle of an intersection while I was out of State. Again took it back to the Dealer, this time I fought to not pay for the $100, I forced them to keep it over the weekend to have a tech drive it. Of course they had no error codes and it didn't stall for them. However when I drove home it stalled on me. My battery died and had it towed and replaced, on the drive home it stalled again. I went 3 months with no stalling until the past weekend, it happened 6 times, 3 times while on the Freeway. I took my vehicle in today, nothing again, I was told to contact Chrysler. I am afraid to drive my own car, which I own free and clear. I can't buy another, that's why I paid it off. I drive children everyday, and with the stalling on the Freeway I am just waiting to be hit. Has anyone contacted an Attorney for a class action suit???

The car has stalled (while driving) a couple of times. And usually when slowing down on a turn or coming up to a light. Thank god no one got hurt and didn't cause an accident. Once stalled while my son, a new driver was behind the wheel. Told the dealer about the problem when I brought it in for the tune up and oil changes. Of course they can't duplicate the problem...Make sure when you talk to the dealer they make notes on the cars records, get them to print them out and take the hard copy, otherwise there is no backup on your complaints.

I have a piece of sh*t 2005 Dodge Durango. I have been back and forth with that car, i don't know how many times. I think they have replaced every sensor they can think of in that crap car. The dealership can't no figure out the problem. They even plugged in that black "computer" thing..i forgot the name. But you have to push the button everytime it stalls or shuts down. Even with that, the dealership can't figure it out. This is DEFINITELY a recall. But of course, Chrysler Dodge doesn't want to lose anymore money. Thank GOD i bought the extended warranty. I even tried the Lemon Law Lawyers and they were worthless. They said it was over the Lemon Law mileage. Whatever, the problem started before that. I just don't know what to do anymore. I commute everyday with my two kids and it's a very scary feeling each time i get in that car. It mainly shuts off when I'm going to brake or go into reverse or even have it parking. The RPM meter starts going crazy, up and down and then it shuts off. I was never a big fan of Dodge but my husband convinced me gave Dodge the benefit of the doubt. Was I TOTALLY right about Dodge. They SUCK! I will tell everyone I know not to buy a Dodge. God Bless the families and everyone that drive in these dangerous vehicles everyday.

I am so fed up. I have been battling with Dodge for almost two years over this. I purchased the vehicle in November of 2005. It was brand new on 2 miles on it. I drove fine for a month then it started shutting off. I took it back and the dealership said they could find anything. That they test drove it and it was fine. I tried to trade it for something else but they gave me a hard time and said if it did it again they would see what they could do. Well, it's two years later and the damn truck is still shutting off. I got a lemon lawyer, that was a joke, and lost!!! Daimler Chrysler had their mechanic come out a week before the hearing and reset the computer. When the vehicle didn't shut off any more, they said they fixed the problem and I lost the case. Well here it is a year later and the truck has started shutting off again. The warranty has expired and now I'm stuck trying to fix a lemon of a truck with a hugh car note. This is not right. Something need to be done. LET'S START A CLASS ACTION SUIT!!!!!!

When shifting from reverse to drive after backing out of the garage or parking stall, the engine would die/stall. I had to shift it back to park, and try to start the engine again. It would not start unless I had the gas pedal pressed. This happened sporadically and of course the dealership could not duplicate the problem. I was told to have the spark plugs replaced and to have the throttle body cleaned out. After having both of these done, the problem occurred again the same night!! I still have not come to a solution, and this is a very embarrassing and frustrating problem!!!

OK, I am getting really aggravated with my Durango which I do love by the way. It stalls (dies) and or tries to everyday!!!! I have to let it warm up..... it is 75 degrees here, and it doesn't do it as bad. It tries to die when I am coming to a stop, unless i baby it and stop very slowly. It also idles very low, 400 RPM. It is getting horrible gas mileage. It use to get about 18 MPG and now it gets 13. The RPM's bounce around when I am stopping or slowing down and it idles very rough. I took it to the dealer because it is still under warranty, they say that they could not duplicate the problem. I am going to take it back again and tell them to fix it or shove it up their a**. My mom had a 2005 Dadge Ram that had ALMOST THE IDENTICAL symptoms, her problem was fixed with replacing the EGR valve, but the dealer tells me that this is not the problem with mine. After my truck stalling without warning almost rolling back and hitting someone Took it back where i got it, they shipped it to dodge and finally after having it 1 1/2 weeks they replaced a solenoid in the transmission, they said it was acting like its a manual transmission instead of a automatic,, which when applied brakes it would look for the clutch which i didn't have.. Working good now lets hope it stays this way.. they also filled transmission fluid said it was low and that could be another reason.,.. But hope this helps someone else with this problem

After numerous trips in for the random stalling over 7 months, they determined at the end of December that the transmission needed to be replaced. This was done and completed the beginning of January and it has been 2 months since the vehicle has randomly stalled. My husband drives the vehicle and is not completely convinced that this has resolved the issue, BUT it has not stalled and it had gotten to where it would stall everyday at least once.

Tonight I was driving home from the mall going about 35 and my Durango randomly STALLED in the middle of the road! I was able to pull into a WalMart, turn it off and restart it and get home. Once I got home, calmed down, I drove to AutoZone and had the battery and alternator tested. Both tested FINE! They were completely confused as to why it could have happened. I was able to get home just fine without any sign of the issue again. I am scared to drive it but due to the warranty being over I have no choice! Seems this should be a RECALL!!!

My 2005 Durango has stalled without warning several times. Each time it was either stopped or slowing to a stop. I had to have it towed to the dealership one of the times because it the engine wouldn't stay running for more than 10 seconds. The steering wheel locks up when this happens. I am terrified that I'm going to be traveling on a highway or curvy road when this happens, or crossing over a busy street. It has been to the dealership 3 times about this and they tell me that nothing appears to be wrong with the car. Now I know from looking on here I am not the only one with this problem. There needs to be a recall about this before someone gets killed.

This problem has been occurring on a regular basis for the last 2 months, before that is was intermittent. The SUV stalls when you are braking, mostly this happens when we are coming to a stop at a light or parking. It was at the dealer for the second time yesterday, they have cleaned the throttle body (in May), flushed the fuel injection system and replaced the battery. We picked it up last night and it did the same thing in front of the dealership when my husband was driving. But yet they have not been able to duplicate the problem.

I just bought a used 05 Durango 14 days ago. It has now stalled 3 times. The first was when I was waiting for a left turn. 2nd when my 16 year old daughter was switching into the driver seat and getting ready to try it out. She went to put it in drive and it was not running. Then we took it to the dealer (they have been very cooperative but can't find an answer). They had it for 3 days and couldn't duplicate the issue. i went the 13th to pick it up and as I was backing out of the parking lot and went to stop and look over my shoulder it died while i had my foot on the brake. It was great. There I sit blocking there driveway walking back in to show them the dead vehicle with the radio, heater and lights still working just fine. They put the dealer plate back on the loaner and said they would keep working on the issue. I must say they haven't argued once and have been very eager to help. but it is a pain to have you truck but not be able to take it home.

This was not the first time and not the last but the most dangerous. I was driving up to Idaho City and if you have been thers you know there is alot of winding turns and not alot of places to turn off I had my kids in the car both under 5 at the time and the river was not to high but would have killed us just the same. I came around a turn and the car stalled now I am 5'6 and about 140 I stood on the brakes and barely kept us from going over the edge because I had no steering and was right next to the edge when it happened to begin with. the other five times I was in traffic intown and it was mostly an inconvenience and the dealer ship has been no help. No codes no answers. I am mechanical trained and I can't find anything either I am sur it is a computer glitch but I can't isolate it. I thought it was vapor lock at first but but it has happened to many times even with the gas cap off which I drove this way for two weeks just two see if it would happen again and it did. I can say that it has happened at least 30 times in two years and if I could I would get rid of this thing. If anyone has suggestions on dealing with deanships let me know.

3rd incident: This is the worse of all three times the truck has been into the dealer for this issue. My husband and I were entering a sharp turn, with traffic in the other lane. All of a sudden we were on the side of the road.since my husband was driving this time, I asked him what was going on. It took everything he had to turn the wheelNo check engine lightno nothingthe truck stalledlosing all power steering, causing him to have to force us to the side of the road. Now we have more concern about the trucksince we have had this issue about 12 times in the last year, it seems to be getting worse. The dealer again could not duplicate the issueso there is nothing they can do. Where does safety come first? How many times can you not duplicate something before something catastrophic happens? If I were driving, I would have not had the strength to pull the truck off to the side of the roadwhat if? We now have a 16 year old less experienced driverwhat if she was driving? I have called Dodge/Chryslergoing to get another opinion. I am down to their optionsFIX IT or take it off of my hands before one of us gets hurt or worse. Comments to follow(more issuesthis time with breaks being posted).

2nd incident: Again our truck stalled a few times between the first 12,000 miles and 18,435 miles. We took it back to the dealeragain unable to duplicate. This time I was backing out of a driveway, not as bad of an area, but non the less this is becoming a pain.
