problem #1

Grand Caravan Sport 3.3L V6

The noise/vibration is pretty intense at times. It occurs when I turn the wheel while the car isn't moving. Now, you may be thinking "Why the hell is this guy spinning the wheel while he's not driving?" well just think of all those parking lots you twist out of and stops signs you turn at.

Anyways, the sound is like the "hum" you'd get if you turned the wheel while not moving but excessively louder! So loud that it sometimes will cause an extreme vibration that rattles EVERYTHING in the van; the wheel, my seat, all the plastic panels that make up the interior and EVEN my cup of coffee. Pretty weird.

My regular mechanic couldn't figure it out so I took it to the Chrysler dealer and the guy who tested it with me said I had "The Shudder". Knowing that it already had a name didn't make me feel better. They replaced the gizmo that apparently usually caused the problem but that didn't fix it and said the only thing they could think to try was to clean out the whole power steering system and see if that works. At $135.00 an hour, I said no.
