Grand Caravan SXT 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission

Yet one more fine electrical problem with this van! The check engine light came on so I went to the auto parts store to get the code read. It indicated a failed EGR sensor. My local garage was quick to fix this problem and also clean out the carbon build-up in the throttle body. They indicated this build-up could have been caused by the bad valve. This build-up has been causing hard starts and reduced mileage for a few weeks now as well as a sticky accelerator. I had this build-up cleaned out a couple years ago as well, so either its also a common problem or perhaps this valve has not been functioning right for a while.

The engine light came on and the engine running rough. Diagnostic indicated the EGR valve. Of course this had to go right when I was due for inspection and NH began mandatory reporting of any emission related problem that affects the ability to pass the annual emission test.
