I had to have all the tpms removed and rubber stems put back in bypassing the whole system and then I had to balance all wheels.

the tpms valves cracked

2010 Caravan SXT has been one of my best vans. I had new tires installed in April 2016 after 50K miles on the tires. In September I kept losing air out of one tire and was added air 2-3 times a week. After submersion and soapy water I could not find the leak ( I didn't pay attention to the valve stem.) I added "Slime" and it fixed the problem but as I added air the valve stem cracked. After 3-4 weeks it lost some air. I shopped for a new TPMS valve ($140 each from the dealer) and $45 online w / shipping. Big O Tires were I bought the tires, charged me $25 to install the TPMS. I month later another tire lost air. I checked the valve stem first and there was a leak. I used the old stem to match a new stem (OReilly Auto Part SE54191 for just $7.25) If only tire dealers would suggest to replace all 4 stems. I would probably pay the $40 to replace all stems. These 2 tires cost me over $100 and a lot of lost time for an easy fix. oreilly auto part # se54191 replacement stem $7.25

LOW TIRE AIR PRESSURE LIGHT WENT ON WHEN VACATIONING IN MICHIGAN. STOPPED TO PUT AIR IN TIRE. WHEN I WENT TO PUT AIR IN TIRE, VALVE STEM BROKE OFF COMPLETELY AND SHOT PAST MY HEAD NEARLY HITTING ME. THIS HAPPENED AT ABOUT 3:00 PM ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON WHEN MOST SHOPS WERE CLOSED. MY FAMILY AND I WERE STRANDED FOR SEVERAL HOURS UNTIL WE COULD FIND A SHOP THAT WAS OPENED THAT COULD REPLACE THE VALVE. IT COST ME $85 US. OUR ENTIRE FAMILY WAS STRANDED FOR SEVERAL HOURS AND I ALMOST GOT SERIOUSLY INJURED. WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICING AND MENTIONED THE PROBLEM THE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH A CHRYSLER PRODUCT.

I was just shocked to realize what happened. Tire pressure sensed low pressure while driving on interstate 90 in Pennsylvania. I pulled into a gas station to fill the tire and when I pushed the air chuck onto the valve stem, the stem pushed into the tire. At the time, I had no idea what happened. Got the tire up to pressure and started back on the 90. Went about 5 miles when the tire just deflated at 65 MPH. Luckily no accident. Had to put on the "donut". Had a heck of a time finding that donut. Never had a vehicle with the spare under the front end of the vehicle.

Had a blow out due to the valve being alloy on steel!! Had to replace it with a rubber valve as the other was so expensive and had to be ordered. Now, we have a light on the dash that says "low tire" at all times!!! This should never have happened as it is the wrong materials to use and Dodge should replace the valves in the tires for free. It should have been under warranty.

To be an American vehicle, it shame compared to a Mazda 2007 and 97560 miles. Its valves looks new still.
