So kids and I were sitting waiting outside for Dad. We had the car running for about 20 mins. A weird electrical glitch happened and the radio reset, all lights flickered on and off, but engine remained on. Thought it was kind of strange. About 30 mins later, while driving, same thing, except it killed the entire car. Engine off, no STEERING!

Husband was able to put in park and restart. Does this twice. Luckily we made it home on the freeway, since we were about 90 miles from home. Did it again today when he pulled in the driveway. I have looked it up and it says possible wiring harness short. I hate going to Dodge, they are such jerks. Anyone have something similar happen?

Yep not cool. Low mileage and cylinder one is done. Just put in $5000 to try to fix it at the garage. Still have the engine light on and rumbles like crazy. Got coil replaced, plugs, the wire going to the coil and still engine psi on that cylinder is 55 plus 2 is 65 and plus 3 is 50. Not good.

Bought the Grand Caravan new for my wife and engine problems started after 1400 kilometers. Kept taking it to the dealer I bought it from and there solution was to change the oil. Problem and ticking got worse and my wife would not use it unless she couldn't drive my Ford truck because I was using it, thus the low kilometers. Dealer finally took me seriously after threatening them with a lawsuit and replaced the engine with a new long block and only two weeks left on the factory warranty. New engine is already backfiring and running roughly with less than 400. kilometers on it and 7,900. total kilometers on the van. The oil was changed 6 times before the dealer pulled the original engine apart and found metal in the oil pan , main bearings , connecting rod bearings and the cam phasers etc. Funny how a tick in the engine could be cured by just repeated oil changes...NOT ! Will not be looking at Chrysler for a replacement and am looking now to trade it for anything that is reliable.

My car keeps stalling, plus my transmission acts like it is going to throw itself out of the front end. I have taken it to the car lot, there were no codes or check engine light on. I am still under warranty for two more months. The mechanic drove it and he said he was going 30 miles an hour and it shut off and he almost wrecked my car. He said he did not want me back in that car. They have no codes or check engine on, so they are saying that they cannot figure out what the problem is. The first time they said it was a gunky throttle, so paid for that, brought it home and the same day it died again. They have loaned me a car, but are saying they have to have it back and I will have to pay rental on a rental car.

I am on a fixed income and can not do that, so will either have to chance my car or be car less and still making payments on it. Why just because they don't see codes can they not figure out what is the problem. Yet they say it could kill me if it stalled on me in the middle of a road. Very dangerous.I am at my wits end. I saw that there has been other class action suits for this same problem, but they were VIN number specific. I need help as to what to do. Do I get an attorney?

Update from Oct 5, 2015: This van is a 2010 not a 2015, made a mistake when entering it. The dealer had the car for over a week. It did stall twice, but no codes came up so they say they can not fix it. Have a case with Chrysler and they are trying to get them to try something again and they say they will not unless Corporate pays for it. They told me they didn't think I should be riding in that car, because it could kill me, but they sent me home in it anyway. There has to be something that can be done. Something is major wrong with the transmission, but took it out and it would not do what it does to me, so they don't take my word for it and won't keep it to check it out. There was a recall on this van, but did not include my VIN number. They made me come and get the car on Fri. and on Sat. it died again and I had two people in the car with me. I said I think it is the computer and they said they could replace it under my warranty, but if it did not fix the problem and I had to bring it back in that they would have to pay the money back and next thing that I needed fixing under warranty I would have to pay for. Doesn't make since to me. There has to be a fix!!!!!

Grand Caravan R/T V6

  • Automatic transmission

The problem first appeared in July (2015) while making a left turn. The engine seemed to stall, but started up after coasting for about 50 feet. I contacted the DODGE DEALER (TATE), where I purchased the vehicle. I was informed to take the vehicle to my nearest dealer, as it was still under NEW CAR WARRANTY, AS IT HAD ONLY 1640 MILES.

TODAY 08/20/2015, after picking my Dodge up from Local DODGE DEARER FITZ In LEXINGTON PARK MARYLAND, and believing the problem had been solved with CMD being updated, I found that the gas pedal was non responsive for about 2 seconds, when pressed down. Maybe the CMD needs time?

VAN JUST SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. JUST SHUT OFF AND KEPT ROLLING. NO POWER STEERING. IF THIS WAS ON THE 401 IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A DEADLY ISSUE. I HAVE TWO VERY YOUNG CHILDREN 3 MONTHS AND 2 YRS. WHAT DO I DO THEN WITH TWO KIDS ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY? THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF BUYING A NEW VEHICLE IS RELIABILITY. SO HOW DO I FEEL BETTER ABOUT THIS? NOW REPAIRED OR NOT, I CAN NO LONGER TRAVEL FEELING SAFE. CANADA'S #1 FAMILY VAN MY ASS. REMEMBER TOW TRUCKS DO NOT HAVE CHILD SEATS

van shut down when at stop light

On March 13, 2015 I was stopped at a traffic light waiting to turn left. I had my foot on the brake and the van shut off. The engine went dead, the radio turned off, and the wipers went off. (It was 46 degrees with a moderate rain falling). I restarted the engine, made my turn when the light turned green, and called Chrysler. I was told to go to the local dealer. They pulled up service information from Chrysler and apparently a computer system needed to be updated. I am hoping that this will correct the problem. If not, I have no idea what I am going to do.
