I bought my 2003 Dodge Intrepid in 2004 with @ 45,000 miles. It now has 162,000 miles. I have maintained the car well and apart from those cost along with some belts etc. the things you expect from a vehicle with this mileage. However, recently the engine light has come on and continued to stay on. The first time it was the cam sensor , crank sensor for 188.00, then plugs, coil pack, boot for 330.00 and now the light is on again.....I was expecting another year or so from this car...but it seems I should make other plans!

I also have a 2003 Dodge Intrepid. I had to replace so far the Camshaft Position Sensor, Crankshaft Position Sensor, Map Sensor and now I don't have heat all the time and the oil light flickers on and off when I come to a stop light. All of these problems from what I have been reading is indication my engine is going to go sooner than later. April this year I would have the car for a year. Runs good but I know sooner than later major problems are coming. This is my 5th Chrysler vehicle, had a Plymouth Voyager, Horizon, Town and Country, Stratus and now this piece of junk. Never again would I buy a Dodge product. And if there is a lawsuit I would really like to know. Because there is definitley a flaw. Oh and yeh, I maintain the car like if its one of my own children. Oil changes you name it. 3000 miles

AFTER 34 DAYS SINCE THE PURCHASE... TWO THINGS HAVE TRANSPIRED... OIL LIGHT... ON AND OFF... FEW DAYS LATER.. ENGINE LIGHT ON.. CONTINUOUS, ROUGH ENGINE.
TOTALLY TWISTED PIECE OF TRASH....
I WILL BE RETUNING THIS AUTO TO THE USED CAR DEALERSHIP IN WHICH IT WAS PURCHASED FROM.. IT MAY NOT BE UNDER THE FACTORY WARRANTY... BUT THE USED CAR DEALERSHIP DOES HAVE A 3 MONTH OR 3000 MILE WARRANTY.. WHICH EVER COMES FIRST... I WAS LOOKING TO HAVE IT REAPIRED BY THE DEALERSHIP IN WHER I GOT IT.. I THINK NOT... I THINK I'LL RETURN IT... REQUEST MY MONEY BACK... AND STEP IT UP.. TO HONDA OR TOYOTA!!!!
I DIDN'T REALIZE... THE DIRTY DODGE ENGINE!
YUK!!!

Intrepid
I finally replaced the engine October 4,2009 and still having the engine light on. car is shutting down, studdering. I'm not sure what to do next but Dodge needs to own up to this problem and do a major recall.
