Magnum SXT

My 2005 Dodge Magnum started making a noise while driving home from a doctor's appointment so I pulled over immediately and called my husband. He came to the site that I had broke down at and started the car. He immediately heard the knocking and had me push the accelerator to see what it sounded like then. He then had me turn the car off. He said that it sounded like a valve. We took it to our mechanic who listened to it and said that we should call Dodge and see what they had to say because a car with 46500 miles should not have an engine go bad like this. So I did all this and basically they told me that because my husband did all the oil changes and such that they would not even consider helping on any of the cost. I have already been out of a car for almost two weeks and now I have to take it back to our mechanic (he will not charge me nearly as much as a Dodge dealership) to have it fixed which will probably take another week or two. I am also now having to pay for this completely out of my pocket which is just sad because obviously Dodge does not think that anybody can change oil and service their own vehicles except for the people at their dealerships. I do also know that there have been several complaints about the 2005 Dodge Magnums and their engine performance and Dodge is not doing anything about it.
