My 16 year old daughter was driving her 2000 Dodge Neon, lost control and rolled a minimum of four times. Neither of the front air bags deployed, and it's a miracle any one survived. The car is totaled and no one can justify why the air bags did not deploy.

The word "airbag" stayed red. My local mechanic said the air bag would not deploy in a crash. He did not attempt to repair. As rain water is leaking into the trunk and from there into the floor of the back seat I wondered if the water seeped into the circuitry. I did not have time to bring to the dealer yet - but the air bag deployed for no reason while I was driving.

While driving at 65 mph on the freeway my left rear tire blew out spinning me out of control. I hit a road side sign (one leg of the sign 12" X 24" post) on the left front quarter panel, continuing down over a small incline and coming to rest a few yards away. My seat belt failed to retract, air bags failed to deploy and the seat failed to keep me in an upright position. All this failures resulting in my being throwing around inside the car.

Consumer is stating that her daughter, lora beth, was involved in a head on collision and killed. She was driving at 35-40 mph. She was wearing a safety belt, and the airbag deployed. She was sitting at least 10 inches from the steering wheel, and was 5 feet 7 inches tall. Parents believe the deploying force of the airbag may have killed her. The Neon?S design dips in the front and if a driver slams on the brake it would dip even more, this might delay the air bag deployment.
