Emergency brake fails to stop my 2007 Dodge Nitro with an automatic transmission. It also can not hold the weight of the vehicle when parked at a 25degree incline with the E-brake handle raised fully. Apparently there's a recall (H28) on this, but notes for manual transmissions only, what the hell does the transmission type have to do with the emergency brake working? I have numerous times to have the dealership correct this problem and they will not touch it even though my vehicle is still under warranty!

2007 Dodge Nitro will not pass inspection because emergency brake will not work. My vehicle warranty will be up on 12-15-09. Took it to the dealer -all he wanted was to sell a brake job. I refused and took it to a mechanic. He said I could get a brake job in a few month, but that it has nothing to with the emergency brake not working. There is no adjust for it. The light comes on in the dash when it is pulled. I had no reason to know it doesn't work, except for the inspection declined. I live in houston, Texas and there are no hills to park on. The mac hiak service man said they would not get it working. Please help me, I already put out $39.75 for an inspection sticker I can not get for faulty manufacture default part. I have read online there were recalls for the same problem year and make with manual transmission. I will also notify the dealer, bb, and attorney generals office of this report that I have sent to you.

Emergency brake does not hold automobile. Shortly after purchase I noticed that the emergency brake failed to keep the car from rolling. I returned the vehicle to the dealer three times before the problem was solved temporarily but the brake again stopped working properly. I again complained to the dealer who claims to have ordered the parts. Three months have passed since the last complaint and the problem still has not been resolved. Since I have a standard transmission, and often have to park on slopes, the brake is an essential safety feature. On many occasions I have gotten in the car and pushed in the clutch to start the car and had the car immediately begin to roll, even though the brake lever was fully engaged.
