Ram 1500 King Cab 4WD 360 V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

I bought a brand new 1996 dodge 1500 Ram king cab w/ 4wd and 360V8. This truck was purchased at the same time my buddy purchased an identical vehicle. Neither truck has brakes that stop it within a reasonable time/distance. No matter how hard you press on the brake pedal, you can not get a tire to skid OR the ABS to pulse to release a skidding condition. My buddy is a mechanic who has tried replacement front pads as well as doing manual adjustment to rear shoes with no improvement. These brakes are so bad that neither of us can understand how they would ever pass U.S. testing to make sure they are road safe. Neither of us are aware of any "fix" available to remedy this potentially dangerous situation. I have six other vehicles and none of them have brakes half as bad as these!
