Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety. Notes: The 2002 has the well-known and documented problem with their dashboards falling to pieces, but it also has engine failure from oil sludge. That's a doube shot of awful in your morning coffee.

The dashboard on my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 is cracked into many sharp, loose pieces. At this point, it's not held together by anything. My concern is that in the event of an accident, the pieces could cause injury to any vehicle occupants. It's been cracked since 2008 when the vehicle was approximately 6 years old. A friend has the same make/model and has the same problem.

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 and my dashboard is cracked from one end to the other. There is also a hole which measures 9" long and 3 1/2" wide. I believe under the right situation this could cause serious bodily harm.

2002 Dodge Ram quad cab - reporting the cracking of the dash board, there has been no damage to the dash, the Ram was kept in a covered garage and still has several cracks complete across the dash. The broken and loose plastic parts could pose a safety hazard.

Dash components cracking and falling apart without abuse. Not caused by sun or heat exposure. Cracked dash panels pose a hazard due to exposed wiring usually covered and protected by dash. Parts of cracking dash can fall into wiring and components housed in the dash, including airbag components. Cracked dash panels are very sharp and can cause increased danger in case of crash or occupant impact with dash panels. Three of these vehicles in our family, all with same problem of dash components cracking without abuse or neglect. Aware of numerous other vehicles of this make with same issues.

Just what happened to the phase "Ram tough" I've had my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 since it was new; I had installed a carpeted dash cover a few months after I bought the truck so the dashboard would be protected from the sun. I even installed a retractable accordion style sunshade. In mid 2005, I was cleaning the interior and removed the cover only to find three cracks in my dashboard, since then I have noted more and more cracks with very sharp edges to the point that now I have holes with sharp edges and pieces of dashboard falling down inside the A/C ducts and into the wiring of the dash area, also I should mention that since these pieces have fallen into the ducts, my A/C unit is not working properly in that the internal doors to divert hot and cold air are being blocked by these broken pieces and no longer open or close. I feel that Dodge needs to man up and put out a recall. Look, I love my truck, it's my third one, and I've been a loyal customer for many many years. It's now time for Dodge to show their loyalty to its customers!!!

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup the dashboard has been cracked for a while from the defect in the material. The other day a piece of the dashboard broke off. Now there is a real sharp edge on the front of the dashboard and it will cut someone if they happen to put their hand on it just right. God forbid that some little child should bump their head on it.

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab and in the summer of 2007 I noticed that a crack had formed in my dashboard, there are now 6 cracks throughout the whole dashboard. I am extremely worried that if the truck is involved in a collision that the pieces with the sharp edges would be extremely dangerous to the occupants because the dashboard will break into pieces and fly through the cab.

2002 Dodge Ram 1500. Dash has been cracking for last several years and I just now started researching on internet for fear of some electrical short or serious injury. This is an apparent very common defect with Dodge, that Dodge does not want to rectify. I've always used a sunvisor and tried my best to protect the dash and interior. 1. events leading up to failure - defect in materials used by Dodge. 2. failure and occurrence - dash keeps cracking. 3. actions taken to correct - filing complaint.
