Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

The vehicle caught on fire on September 21, 2005. The consumer was driving at 65 mph when it caught on fire. The consumer heard a pop sound coming from under the hood area. The engine started making a clanking noise and surging. When the consumer pulled over there was smoke coming from the side of the hood. And when he lifted the hood it burst into flames. The consumer was not injured. A highway patrol report was taken, chp log number 1217. And fire report engine number 74 incident number 390. When the consumer contacted the insurance Agency, they found that there was a recall for the wiring harness. This recall said that there was a possibility of engine fire. When he contacted the manufacturer, they told him that there was no recall on this vehicle.

We had an engine fire. Took it to the dealership in boerne, tx, where they fixed it, but did not report the incident to Chrysler. We worry about this happening again, and are not satisfied with their explanation. We fear we may have a safety problem. Chrysler wants us to deal with our insurance co., but they never were involved, except for the rental vehicle while ours was being repaired.
