Engine developed a constant ticking that does not stop. Timing belt replaced, all lifters replaced. Good oil pressure but constant tick won't go away. Piece of crap engine. Dealership told me it was normal. Duh! Ticking in an engine is not normal. Looking for a Chevy.

Window controls only work from driver controls, unless it is summer and cab is 100 degrees inside cab. I have had a ticking noise ever since I bought truck brand new. Dealership kept telling me nothing to worry about.

Bought a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. I've had it 2 weeks, bought it from an old guy who bought it new in 2004 has 144,00 miles. I didn't even put 10 miles on it and it died so I took it to the shop and the valve spring broke and the valve cracked shattered the piston. Never buying a f*cking Dodge again.

My 5.7 Hemi got the tick in motor and just continued to get worse & worse. Spent the money to have new crate motor put in costing me $8000 by the time they were done. A year later went back because once again motor started ticking. Dodge blamed exhaust leak. Kept going back because had 3 year warranty and they did nothing. Now warranty is up and ticking is louder then ever. I would never ever buy another Dodge especially a Ram. They are nothing but problems!!!

Don't know what to really say. I'm not mechanically smart when it come to trucks. The engine just ticks very loud. From past trucks I am thinking it can stay that way for ever. But it really seems like it is getting louder? I still have a 7/70,000 power train warranty. I don't know if the engine is covered in that? I bought it used like 6 months ago, I think it came with a 1 year 18,000 pre owned certified warranty. Will that cover it? Does this have anything to do with the fact that once in a blue moon white smoke comes out of exhaust pipe on start up only? This is my 3rd dodge and already seems to be the worse. Thanks for your time.

I have a 2004 dodge ram 1500 v-8 with the Hemi. Just hit 83K today nothing for this truck.. I have a knocking/ ticking noise. I am wondering what this is. Starts up hard sometimes and when cold ticks/ knocks pretty load and quiets a little bit when warm but still makes sounds. Any info on what this could be. Sounds like it is coming from lower motor..

I will never buy another Dodge! I only wish there was a class action suit for the problems the 4.7L V8 motor has.

Ok starting off I had a ticking sound when the engine first started that would eventually go away. I had a extended warranty provided by the used car dealership that allowed me to go anywhere to get it fixed so I chose the Dodge dealership. They replaced the lifters ($2300 warranty $100 to me) and when we got it back the ticking was still there. They told us to give the new lifters time to settle in. After a month of continued ticking we returned to the dealership and told them they should stand behind their work ( call me cheap but I had to pay a $100 deductible before the warranty would kick in). This time it was serious the warranty company sent a inspector from KC (200 miles away) and I was told they were 90% sure the engine needed replaced but in order to find out I had to pay $1000 if no defect was found after a major teardown. Them threatening me with a $1000 bill told me they were scared of what they would find and this is how they would try to get out of it. I called their bluff and they found a bent piston and my engine is now being changed to the tune of $8000 to the warranty company. I recently bought this truck used for $10,000. The repairs billed to the warranty company are totaled $10,300 plus $200 to me.

I am disgusted with Dodge. Had my truck into the dealer 3 times telling them the engine has a tick in it. It is noticeable, especially in drive-thru (taco bell)etc. Their answer to me was we hear nothing, its ok. Well now my truck is out of warranty, and I'm going to take it back in and see what they say. If they tell me they hear the ticking, and its going to cost anything to fix, we will know they are running a little scam. I know of another dodge ram that had a "tick" in the motor and dodge wouldn't fix. I think its safe to say I will never buy another dodge again.
