This will be the fifth time that the dealer will be sticking their nose into my rear end, Literally. The pinion bearings were replaced once early on, then, the axle sheared on the right side of the vehicle, causing the wheel, hub and brake caliper to pass me and end up in a cornfield. warranty covered both of those. They re used the center section and the left axle shaft, even after such a catastrophic failure. Warranty covered another set of bearings after that also. I had a factory 100,000 mi.extended warranty. Just paid for a set of pinion bearings out of pocket at 109,000. SAME LOUD NOISE is back at 118,000. I am considering a Ford 9" swap out of an 1980 F-150
I got an important nameless person to finally admit that the rear in a 94-02 body style ram was much heavier , as the 94 I owned before this had NO problems (not even the trans went out) and was sold running at 251,000. The service manager at the dodge dealer has been very helpful and has worked with me. Next truck? Ford F350 If the government hasn't bought them also by that time.
