Pulling out of a drive the throttle stuck at 3000 rpm. It would have been fine except it was slick outside and the truck got loose. It didn't come down off 3000 rpm until after I had slid off the road into a tree with the engine racing for another few seconds. I contacted Chrysler and they sent out a special investigator. (What a joke) He put it on a DRB (chrysler scan tool) on it and there weren't any codes so he said there was no problem. Pretty much said I was S. O. L. About two weeks later a check engine light came on and I took it to them the next day. The codes (P0585, P0593, P0581 and a P2138) pertained to cruise control, and unmeasured voltage something or other. Both directly relating to the problem I had. This system doesn't run a throttle cable, instead they use an IAC type motor that operates the throttle plates. It runs off a 5 volt reference, so if it sees even a slight voltage spike the throttle will be adjusted. They went to this system to monitor air fuel systems more accurately, and to eliminate the cruise control servo assembly. Now to hold a speed all they have to do is vary a voltage to the throttle plate motor. Unfortunately now you have no direct connection to your throttle so it opens it up for computer error. Anyway Chrysler still wouldn't pay for the damages because they said they couldn't duplicate the problem. If anyone else out there experiences anything like this please contact me as I am seeking legal action. Unfortunately that seems like the only thing they react to.

(reported on)Ram 1500 V8 HEMI
2005 Ram 1500 decelerated while in cruise control on an upgrade. After several seconds the vehicle kicked down and raced the Hemi engine. This was with enough power to push me into my seat. It exceeded the set speed by 7 mph and then returned to normal cruise behavior. Upon exiting the highway I stopped for a light at the end of the exit ramp. While waiting for the light to change the engine attempted a stall and then raced the engine up to 2500 rpms, then back to stall. This occurred three times before returning to normal idle. Wilson Dodge in Torrington CT is finding no codes in the computer to explain the erratic behavior of the vehicle.
