The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving highway speeds, the front passenger wheel completely fractured from the axle. A police report was filed, but no crash occurred. The driver sustained whiplash due to the tire failure. The insurance company towed the vehicle to a yard. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer provided a case number and stated that they would provide a follow-up response to investigate the cause of the wheel fracture. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10E040000 (wheels) and was uncertain if the failure was related to manufacturer recall number: G02 (front wheel bearings). The contact was waiting on a response from the manufacturer. The failure mileage was not available..... consumer stated the front passenger tire came off the truck without warning, without any warning lights. Photos attached.

This is the second time reporting this problem. I have been having issues with my acceleration or gas pedal when I step on the gas sometimes to accelerate. Like merging onto the freeway or interstate or trying to pass a slow-moving vehicle my gas pedal or acceleration pedal has a tendency to stick. I then have to stomp on it or try to pull up on it with my foot to free it up. As I have stated in my previous complaint I guess nothing is going to be done about it on till someone is hurt injured or killed.

My truck has quit functioning 3 different times (days). All dash lights come on and there is no communication between the accelerator pedal and engine. Most times it is still running but I cannot make the vehicle move. The last time the engine died completely and I could not restart the vehicle. I have had it towed 3 times to the dealership, they have made repairs based on what they thought was wrong, only to have it stop exactly the same 4 or 5 days later. The first repair was condenser, oil pressure regulator and battery cable, the second repair was the brain. This third time they have had the truck for 3 days and yesterday they called and said they do not know what is wrong, it doesn't give them codes when on computer. I do not feel confident nor safe to drive a truck that just stops when I'm driving. I have found other complaints on a website carcomplaints.com and have found 10 other complaints with very similar vehicle problem. I am leaving work each time this happens and am thankful I am not traveling home during rush hour; I'd likely cause an accident. It has been very expensive almost $2000. And still no truck. First occurrence about 10nov, 2nd occurrence about 16nov, 3rd was 5dec.

On about 5 different times my accelerator pedal has gotten stuck and accelerating to about 90 plus mph while on the highway. I had to stomp on it several times to get it unstuck. I have seen where other people have had the same problem as mine. However the Dodge dealer in baytown Texas said they have not gotten any recalls on this problem and can not do anything for me until there is a recall. Also I was told about the airbag recall and they also have told me that they will not do any repairs until I receive a recall notice by mail which I still have not received. We have had problems receiving our mail due to new mail carriers put the wrong mail in different mail boxes. So what can I do to address this problem before I am in and accident and injury or kill someone and or myself. I have also had some issues with my steering.

Consumer stated 2008 Dodge Ram accelerated after removing foot from pedal. The consumer stated as she accelerated to pass a truck, the vehicle continued to accelerate. The RPM's reached 5000. She tried to place the vehicle in neutral, press the brake, but the vehicle continued to accelerate. Eventually, the vehicle started to slow down enough with her foot still on the brake. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, however they were unable to find a problem. The dealer stated they had never heard of an electronic control light, even though the light was on when the consumer arrived at the dealer. The shifting was erratic when first shifting out of park into reverse.

Had my cruise control set at 70 mph on my Dodge Ram 1500 truck as I was approaching an 18 wheeler I tap my brake to disengage my cruise and it didn't so I tapped it again and same results and there was cars on my left so I had to take the shoulder of the highway I was applying the brakes as hard as I could but I continued to gain speed ( the cruise was stuck and would not disengage) and had to take the shoulder. I continued to gain speed and ran out of shoulder so I had to cut left back to the highway and hit the trailer of the 18 wheeler. It slowed me down and I cut back behind the trailer and started to gain speed. The 2 cars that was to my left had passed so I cut left and turned off the key and began to slide. I slid about 100 feet and into the median. Also the air bags never deployed. My truck was totaled but fortunately there was no injuries other than a few bruises to me and my 2 passengers. There also was no injuries to the driver of the 18 wheeler.

On a misty morning our truck began to skid as we attempted to accelerate after yielding to exiting traffic on an access road on ih 10. My husband tried to control the skid by steering into it, but we just kept skidding out of control. He purposely remembers not applying the brake in an attempt to lessen the loss of control. We continued the skid across 2 lanes of access road to the right, then spun around 180 degrees and skidded back across 3 lanes of access road to the left. We came to stop facing oncoming traffic after hitting a concrete retaining wall first with the right front of the truck and then with the right rear of the truck. I remember hearing the tires continuing to spin and smelled burning rubber. This caused over $6500 damage to the truck and has caused our insurance rates to increase. After months of discussing the wreck and replaying it in our minds, we have determined that probably, as my husband clinched the steering wheel and tried to control the spin, that the cruise control was engaged and set which made us continue to travel at the set speed instead of slowing and allowing him to regain control of the truck. The cruise control on/off button and the set button are both located on the steering wheel. This is the first vehicle that we have ever had or seen that has the on/off control for the cruise located on the steering wheel. Most vehicles have this either on the blinker lever or even on the dash board. We feel certain that the cruise control was inadvertently turned on when my husband tightened his hold on the steering wheel. I feel that this is an unsafe location for this control. We were very lucky that in our travels across all lanes of traffic, not once, but twice that there were no other cars on the road that morning or this would have been a multi car pile up. No change has been made to the truck's cruise control. We plan to have it disconnected. In attempt to prevent others from having a wreck, we are reporting it.
