Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

I can not understand why it is taking so long to get this recall fixed on my truck. I have been calling every since they mailed it to me. I am always told so sorry we are still trying to get the parts shipped out to the dealers. Oh we do not know what is taking so long, oh yes we will call you when the parts are ready. Well this recall has been going on for quite some time now and I do not understand why they are so far behind. It says my rear axil can freeze up and cause a major accident...so if this is true then why do they not have the parts after this long? there has been no problem with the truck yet but then I do not drive it very far since it may lock up the rear end and cause me or my family to be hurt...along with someone else in their car!!!! I call my local dealer and I get the same crap for an answer.....

The vehicle started making a grinding sound, then started jerking right before it abruptly came to a complete stop. Upon getting out of the vehicle to see what had happened, the rear drive shaft was disconnected from the truck and hanging down on the road. We then tried to put the vehicle in neutral and push it off of the main road we were on to a safer side road. The truck was completely locked up and would not move forward or backwards. Upon researching the problem, it has came to my attention that this is part of the safety recall that has been issued by Dodge.

Ram 1500 8-cyl

  • 27,000 miles
Chrysler sent me a safety recall notice N08/NHTSA 13V-038 in April of 2013. This is for trucks with a 9.28" rear axle it states that the pinion nut may be built without an adhesive patch on the pinion threads. The lack of this adhesive patch could allow the rear axle pinion nut to loosen and/or the rear driveshaft to separate from the rear axle. A loose pinion nut could cause the rear axle to seize and a separated driveshaft could cause a loss of motive power. Either situation could cause a crash without warning. The dealer states that Chrysler has not informed them of the fix not supplied the parts. They also stated that Chrysler would contact me when the figured out what to do. I waited a while and called Chrysler in may and they had me bring the vehicle in for an inspection at the dealer. The dealer told me that everything looked tight at this point to wait for Chrysler to come up with the fix and contact me. To date they have not contacted me.
