5/31/2008 I purchased 4 definity Dakota A/T truck tires LT265/75R16 for my 1995 Dodge Ram pickup. One of them detreaded almost immediately but was replaced under warranty. December 2009, my front right detreaded at 40 mph while driving on a city road. Early January, the front left detreaded driving 65 mph on the fl turnpike, leading me to suspect a defect. Last night, my left rear detreaded while driving 70 mph on I-75, nearly causing a roll-over. Significant damage to my truck body occurred as the tread spun around cutting through sheet metal.

5/31/2008 I purchased 4 definity Dakota A/T LT265/75R16 tires for my Dodge Ram pickup. About a month or two later, one of rear detreaded and I had it replaced under warranty. In December 2009 and then in January 2010, the two front tires detreaded (passenger side in Dec, driver side in January). This was followed last night 2/26/2010 with a violent detread of the driver rear tire. The dot numbers involved were upw8 PA9 0108 (front tires) and upw8 PA9 4307 (rear).

The set of 5 tires was purchased in March and had 6300 miles on them. The tire separated and blewout leaving the side wall intact and split from top of tire to rim. The seperation pattern is considerably noticable. This blow out caused extensive damage to side panel of truck, ripping out the sidewall plastic cover and mud flap. The sudden failure of this tire has made me very leary of driving with the others. (tiresize: 245 75/R16)

3 out of 4 of these tires have had high speed tread separation followed by blowouts and vehicle damage. After the first failure, michilin directed me to have one of their dealers inspect the tire(s). The dealer's letter indicated that the "tires are defective" and that they were properly maintained, had correct pressures, etc. At this point I am out over $1000 not including the insurance company's $3500 loss for vehicle damages. After sending the failed tires to michlin, michlin offered to pay my out of pocket expenses provided I did not disclose details of the failures, provided I did not tell anyone that they had paid me, provided I would not let the insurance company subrogate the loss on my behalf. What should I do at this point. I still have the intact 4th tire. (dot number: Bf11aku088 tiresize: LT245/75R)

In addition to the "lost tire" there is approximately $2500 damage to the vehicle. The company refuses to acknowledge their responsibility unless I first purchase another tire from them and send the original tire back to them. (this is after I driving/using three hours of my time to bring the tire into one of their centers for inspection.) (dot number: Bf11aku088 tiresize: LT245/75R1)

We had 2 sets of Goodyear tires on this truck. The 1st set (original equipment) separated on a trip to calif. From Nevada. We were fortunate to feel something wrong & stop. The 2nd set is the set that we have all of the info on. It also seperated on the drive to calif. From Nevada. It seperated without warning & did extensive damage to the trk. The wheel well was gone, the body was damaged & the bumper rubber was torn off, in addition to bending the bumper. Both instances happened during family trips. We saved the tire & have pictures of the damage. This truck was not used commercially. We contacted Goodyear & they claimed to have no knowledge of this kind of problem with the tire. They suggested that the tire was underinflated. This trk was always expertly maintained. We were very concerned for our family's safety and the last tire seperation was the last straw, so we sold this truck. (dot number: Md11amhv42 tiresize: Lt245175R1)

These tires have had a vibration in them since day one, the dealer was unwilling to help me, and I recently (since the news hit) started sending requests to Firestone to replace them with some other brand before I get hurt. I have copies of emails and form letter responses from them. They state that the only tires they are replacing are the 15" ones and mine do not apply. I just want new tires from them, before I get hurt or killed. My job requires a minimum of 120 high speed highway miles a day. I also do not have the money to replace them myself, and even if I did, it would be a total loss, as there is no resale value on anything they made.( dot number: Unknown tire size: P265/75R16 )
