My 5 year old son and I were almost killed today because of this defect. I was driving about 20-25 mph and the steering seemed to be jerky or slack, the next instant the truck veered hard left into 2 lanes of oncoming traffic and luckily I did not hit anyone. Apparently, my mechanic tells me this is a common problem with sealed wheel bearings - the seal goes bad, the bearings go dry, then they lock up - usually the wheel falls off and a bad accident ensues. I'm just fortunate to have not been driving 65 mph down the highway or I'm sure I would have killed someone if not my son and I. The biggest problem with the Dodge Cummins is that you can not hear some of these problems until it is too late due to the diesel noise. I would highly recommend that anyone with sealed wheeled bearings get them replaced prior to 75,000 miles - it could save your life.
