The plastic dashboard and related underpinnings and suport structure for everything from passenger airbag, radio, climate control and vents, headlight, mirror defroster, gauge pod, onboard diagnostic plug, etc. Began disintegrating in large sharp pieces while driving. These pieces cut wiring and fles for anything and everything and are distracting and dangerous in multiple ways worse if in an accident. I had to remove radio, and disable airbags for safety. Replacement parts alone are potentially in the thousands, not including labor and wiring harness repairs.

Dash board is crumbling exposing numerous controls, gauges, wiring, and airbag components which is a huge safety concern. The A/C has seized to work anymore due to electrical problems which is spreading to other control gauges and components. The safety of the airbag system is now a concern.

This diesel truck was started in order to let it warm up. Owner went into a building to retrieve a pair of gloves and returned 5 min later to find the vehicle on fire. Smoke was pouring out of the front cowl at the base of the windshield. Entry to the vehicle was attempted in order to put the fire out however the locking mechanism kept the doors shut so entry could not be attained. The truck was on fire and it had locked the doors. The drivers side window had to be busted out with a fire extinguisher in order to gain entry. Once the fire was extinguished the problem area was evident. The entire heater blower area was melted.

My 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 quad truck dash board started to crack about three years ago. When I checked with my dealer I was told that it would not be covered by warranty. Shortly later I was walking in a walmart parking lot and notice a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 which had a dash board cracked worse than mine. I then made a trip to many used car lots--I found that seven (7) out of ten (10) 2001+ Dodge Ram pickups I checked had cracked dashes. I contact Dodge with my complaint and what I had observed in other Dodge pick ups and asked about any recall for the problem. I was sent the typical form letter that said sorry not under warranty nor recall. Now where cracks joined chunks of the dash have fell in leaving gaping holes with jagged edges. I have never had an accident in my truck and god forbid if I should--can just see all the jagged parts of the dash flying and with the force of the airbags just what injures would be received. In fact I have cut the passenger side air bag off for fear of additional injury to my wife in an event of an accident. Also mine is not an isolated event--one could spend countless hours reading of the same complaint on the web. But to date Dodge has done nothing. I have seen where some dealers have covered half the labor cost--you can rest assured that was from the dealer and not Dodge just to maintain good customer relations! this is a safety hazard in that sever injuries could be received from the deployment of the air bags.

While traveling at 50 the right front tire slightly touched the gravel on an uneven parkway, and caused the driver to lose control of vehicle, the vehicle flipped and crashed. Upon impact, the air bags failed to deploy. The passenger was killed. When the tire left the road the consumer turned the wheel back to the left to get the vehicle back onto the road. The vehicle fishtailed in the rear and collided head on into the concrete culvert, flipped end over, and rolled upside down into a ditch. Neither air bag deployed. The consumer was told the size of the wheels should be redesigned due to the chassis. (the change of the center gravity caused the vehicle to be unstable)

At 25 mph our vehicle T-boned another vehicle traveling approximately 50 mph. The other vehicle is completely totaled, and there is extensive damage to the front end of the truck. The whole front end of the truck is pushed back and shifted to the left side of the vehicle, and the frame of the truck is bent. Despite the major damage, the air bags failed to deploy. Contacted Chrysler and repairs are on hold until investigated. Chrysler refuses to provide any information on the status of the investigation.
