The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the wedge that held the spare tire fractured from the vehicle and struck another vehicle behind the contact's vehicle causing damage to the vehicle. The contact was advised by the manufacturer that the failure was not their liability and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 46,000 and the current mileage was 48,000. Consumer stated while driving at 35 mph, the spare tire had broken loose and was bouncing on the road. When consumer went to retrieve the wheel, he found a 4X5 inch bracket being supported by an eighth inch cable.
