The bed must be removed to get to the top of the tank and expose the pump. The bed is secured by a few bolts and comes right off. The wires leading to the pump rub against the bed where a frame fail is. Have to cut and splice in a new section and then shrink wrap to make it work again. It was arcing against the frame right next to the gas tank. I'd imagine that could be a problem...

Ram 2500 XLT 5.9L Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 145,000 miles

Had it towed to the local dealership(Harold Ziegler) and told them the fuel pump went out AGAIN. They told me it was the computer and it would cost $2750 to fix. After replacing this part they called back and told me they also need a fuel pump(Hmmm), another $400. Not only do I wonder now about the computer(ECM) but when I did get the vehicle back the first thing I noticed walking up to the vehicle was how much louder it is. I took off down the road and tried to release the emergency brake because it felt sluggish. It was not engaged. I reset the fuel economy indicator and I drove both city and highway miles only to notice that my fuel economy has dropped by more than 20%. The dealership said they had no answers which is about the same as the answer I got on the Mopar chat line.

Any help from any of you would be appreciated.
