Black cars clear coat is "starring" (basically the clear coat is cracking and turning white.) I contacted the local dealership (I didn't buy it there) and they said they couldn't do anything. They wouldn't even contact Dodge. I drove the hour to the dealership I bought the car from and they looked at it and said they would contact Dodge. They also said paint wasn't warrantied and that they will probably not do anything about it. 1 hour later they called and said Dodge was willing to fix all the problem areas - paid for 100% by them. I bought the car new, I also purchased the extended warranty. I made the comment to the dealership that this was my 3rd Dodge and if it wasn't fixed it would be the last. I was very nice but made sure they knew that I knew it was a faulty paint job and that I wasn't just going to walk away....

Noticed the clear coat coming off the roof sometime last spring (2007). Yesterday (03/06/08) I noticed it was starting to flake off at the trunk and rear of the car. This is a salvage vehicle that was fixed up. The hood and bumper cover have a new paint job from the repair--no issue with flaking there. This is going to be a pricey repair. No longer a Dodge fan, jerks.

Black 2003 Stratus R/T. just out of warranty and top starts to turn white and flaky probably due to bad primer or clear coat. Spreading to other parts of the car as well. Chrysler knows there was a defect and refuses to fix it. This is much like the last time I got "burned" by Chrysler on a new 1971 Dodge Challenger Plum Crazy color that had the paint literally fly off while driving down the road. Fool me twice, shame on me - but it won't happen with Chrysler again as I will never purchase another vehicle from them. Too bad our Government bailed them out.

Stratus R/T 3.0L V6
Bought this car used from a dealer last fall and never noticed a problem. As soon as I started washing the car myself I noticed white spots and now it looks even worse. 6 months after buying the car all the spots that are in direct sunlight are white as snow. It needs a new paint job but by looking at the rest of the complaints and other sites looks like Dodge isn't going to pay for it.
