I own a 1998 Ford Contour LX. The car is a 16V DOHC 4 cylinder. I think it moves great for a 4 cylinder. I wasn't very happy about all the recalls and service bullentines though. My problem started last year when the car would not start. The only thing I got was a clinking noise. I had power to everything else. I had my brother, a mechanic, look at it. He said the screw on the solenoid kept coming off for some reason. I was stranded at 10 times that year. I took it to the dealership I had purchased it from and they couldn't reproduce the problem. They suggested a new starter. I purchased a new starter and solenoid. The problem came back after 6 months of working fine. I had spent all that money for a new starter and it still happened. I took it back to the dealership and they still couldn't find anything wrong with it. I could have drove that car into a river and never looked back. My mom let me have her 2003 Volvo S80, which have not had a problem yet. I still have the stupid Contour. I don't want to pawn the problem off on someone else. Maybe I will enter it into the derby!!
