Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

I could not find any others with this problem. But sounds like a defect to me. A coil spring should never just break apart like this one did. To break in 3 spots is unreal. I have seen other recalls from Ford regarding coil springs, but they were for the 1999-2001 Taurus. My guess is, this part was 100% faulty. Maybe just ours, but who knows. The coil has to be a defect in the making of it. Could be dangerous if on the highway and this puppy decides to blow up and take out your front tire at the same time.
