CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.

Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.

Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

I purchased this vehicle in 2016 with a open recall, the dealership failed to inform me about or fix prior to selling it. The vehicle has had several problems they refused to repair even though I purchased it from them. They are a GM dealership said they do not have the tools to make any repairs on the vehicle. This incident in question happened on 11-04-17 the car was sitting in my driveway and I noticed a puddle of gas under the car, the gas tank is what was leaking and there has been a open recall on it since 2014.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V384000 (air bags) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. The dealer (velde Ford, 488 us-1, vero beach, fl 32962, (772) 569-3400) did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The contact was unable to determine when the vehicle would be repaired. The dealer and manufacturer made no mention of when they would provide the manufacturer service campaign number: 14R02 for the fuel tank seam leaks (07-08 Edge-mkx - non corrosion St-prov). The manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact was also checking to determine if they would provide a remedy for the service campaign. The contact was not experiencing a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The vehicle was identifed under NHTSA campaign number 14V682000 and was taken to my local Ford dealership on August 22, 2016 to have the necessary repairs completed. A strong fuel odor was coming from the vehicle. After less than 30 minutes, the Ford dealership called and said the repairs were completed. The only repairs that were completed were four new bolts (I have the invoice from the Ford dealership showing only four new bolts were installed). The fuel tank was not replaced, no corrosion preventative was applied to the tank, and no inspection report was provided. Starting in August 2017, a strong fuel odor started again. The vehicle was returned to the local Ford dealership, and I was informed that the fuel tank had so much corrosion it was starting to split in one corner. The Ford dealership said it recommended a new fuel tank, and that it would not be covered until the safety recall and it would be my responsibility to pay for the new fuel tank.

Car has sudden loss of power, accelerator doesn't work, but the car doesn't actually die out. This happens at all speeds, this is extremely dangerous on highways and in traffic. The wrench light comes on. This is a known problem with many Ford and the fix is the throttle body replacement. Ford has a customer service deal going on to fix it, but my year of car hasn't been included although I have the exact issue.

Ford dealer has my 2007 Ford Edge due to it stalling out while driving 60 mph on a highway causing my engine to die so I had to get towed home and off of the highway. The dealer originally thought it was the electronic throttle body but they have now determined that was not the problem. Instead it is the PCM which is costing me over $1500, if that even fixes this. Plus I have been paying for a rental car because the dealers don't have free loaner vehicles. So this whole thing is going to cost me about $2000. Now I have been researching this problem, and can clearly tell this is not normal wear and tear instead it is a faulty part that so many other owners are experiencing. I clearly see Ford has been made aware of this problem and they should be taking responsibility for their mistake. Ford has refused to issue a recall on this problem even though it is very dangerous and costly for the vehicle owner. I have never owned a Ford before and likely will not again because of this bad experience.

Bad electronic throttle body and it's sensor. This is a common and costly repair with Ford vehicles but they have refused a recall. It is dangerous as it causes your vehicle to completely shut down while driving. It happens frequently when accelerating or randomly when driving at various speeds. The first time it happened I was driving 60 mph and my car suddenly shut down and locked up then was unable to start so I had to get it towed.

Very hesitant to pick up speed at times, but more importantly on 2 occasions out side of a week, I was not able to stop, my break pedal would do anything, it wouldn't go down for me to stop, the 1st time I was driving and tried to stop at a stop sign and couldnt stop the second time was on a busy hwy and I almost hit a car at a stop light, because my breaks didnt work.. and yes I have had my breaks and rotors replaced thinking that was the problem but obviously it wasnt, I talked to a mechanic at the Ford dealer and my personal mechanic and both have told me they have had lots of complaints regarding the same thing. Now I have to ask a friend to ride me back and forth to work, because I am afraid to use my car in fear of killing myself or someone else.

Had an "cel" check engine light come on for no reason. My vehicle was running fine ( except for that light) took my vehicle to the kennedy Ford dealer for a fuel tank corrosion issue ( a recall ) well the recall was free to investigate but the light apparently diagnosed as the "TB" throttle body. Noticed Ford had had documented problems but was told by Ford customer service person that my vehicle was not covered. Wondering when if at all all their "TB's" will be covered? vehicle runs well except for the alleged "TB" pending issue.
