CarComplaints.com Notes: A frustrating electrical issue is causing an ever-present “door ajar” warning light for 2011-2013 Ford Edge owners. Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. While driving at an unknown speed and attempting to stop abruptly, the front driver's seat fractured, fell forward, backwards, and then layed down flat. The vehicle was taken to mike brown Ford (866-562-7500, located at 4950 E U.S. hwy 377, granbury, tx 76049) where it was diagnosed that the bottom of the seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

When accelerating, you can feel the drivers and/or passenger front seat shift backward. When stopping, you can feel the drivers and/or passenger front seat shift forward. I have questioned this at the dealership without resolution. I can't find anything that will allow me to tighten down the seats. I don't feel this extra play in the seat is safe in the event of a wreck.

On June 24, 2015 the dealership service department had to replace the seat track on the drivers side. It was stuck in the up position and would grind when you tried to move it with the power switch. Now 2/1/2018 the drivers side seat is not secure and it rocks when you accelerate and braking. Ford service department informed me today that the track needs to be replaced again. Cost to me would be $1,640. A quick scan of the "Ford Edge forum" indicated at least 18 reports of the same problem. To me this is a serious safety concern and should be fixed by the Ford Motor Company. I spoke with Ford's customer relations department this morning 2/1/2018 and they assigned a case number and will let me know what Ford will do provide assistance in the repair of this problem. A solution by Ford should be found and a recall should go out to fix this problem once and for all.

We have had a problem with our Ford Edge going into limp mode while driving. Luckily it has been at low speeds so we were able to pull over and turn off vehicle. Il when this problem happens, it idles very roughly and it like it loses its mind. You cannot accelerate and a wrench pops up on the dash. When you turn off vehicle and turn it back on, it's fine.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle was equipped with three child restraint seat latch anchors in the rear seat area. The seat with the one anchor installation prevented a child seat to be positioned in that specific seat. The contact was displeased to know that the vehicle was not designed for two rear facing child restraint seats to be positioned in different rear seats at the same time. The manufacturer was notified and they stated that there were certain models designed with four rear seat latch anchors. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000....updated 08-10-12 updated 08/14/2012.
