Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

When driver's door is closed, the "door ajar" light is still on the display. You can slam the door hard several times before it will go off. Many times, it reappears after you begin driving. This causes a safety hazard to my family because my wife is not able to lock the doors when inside the car. (the "door ajar" will not allow it to be locked).

Drive door ajar on panel, doors won't lock, interior light stays on initially, while driving it will say to shift to park due to the door ajar...when you accelerate, the doors do not lock like normal. After turning car off sometimes can't lock to vehicle and the interior light stays on for about 5 minutes.

Door ajar signal will intermittently activate even though drivers door is closed. This also means that dome lights will not go off and that the doors will not lock. This is apparently a very common issue with the Ford Edge and it needs to be escalated to a recall for fix.

problem #125

Driver's side door ajar sensor always reads the door as open. This causes the car to chime every time you accelerate from a complete stop, the interior lights stay illuminated, and prevents the doors from automatically locking when the vehicle is in motion. The chime is a distraction and also causes the driver to ignore the alarm which means you could not notice some other, more serious malfunction in a timely manner. The interior lights make parking at night very dangerous as it's hard to see outside of the vehicle. And the doors not locking automatically is obviously dangerous. On top of all this, you cannot unlock the door from the outside if the proximity key is inside the vehicle when it thinks the door is open. If someone is used to being able to do this, it's very easy to lock yourself out of your car. It happened to me yesterday. Glad I didn't have a baby stuck in there. Instead I just had to pay $60 for a locksmith. Attempting to clean the area where the sensor is located does not fix the issue. And the process to replace the sensor is either very expensive or far beyond most people's ability (it requires complete disassembly of the door). This means a lot of people won't bother to repair it and there will be a lot of Ford vehicles on the road with this problem. Watch out for them in a parking lot.

A fault in the door latch on the drivers side is malfunctioning and sends a signal that the door is open when it is not. Besides being annoying, I fear the fact that the doors do not lock while the vehicle is in motion. They could be locked manually, but I have two small children that can not lock them on their own. I fear that if we were in an accident, they could be thrown from the car due to not having the doors locked. At this point I do not even want to drive my children anywhere in this vehicle. It is a safety issue!

A few months ago, the driver side door ajar light began staying on when the door was closed properly. This causes the lights to stay on inside the car along with the annoying beeping sound. What really concerns me is that I have my daughter in the vehicle with me and being that the doors won't lock as the light is now on continuously, she would be able to open the door at any time. Just wait until there is a major injury from this before being recalled, isn't that how it usually works?

When I get into the car and shut the drivers side door, I get an error the door is ajar. Clearly it is not but a relentless beeping is warning me of the trouble. The net effect is that the car's interior lights will not go off nor will the doors lock when the car is in motion making it difficult to see at night and impossible to secure the doors from being opened at any speed. History: In Dec 2014 my Ford Edge drivers door "open" indicator would occasionally not turn off after the door had been securely closed. This happened about once a week and by closing the door with a bit more force would it then turn off. Over the next three months the indicator light would work for a period of time and then fail again. Starting in February 2015 the light became more difficult to get to go off until March when the indicator light never goes off. The effect of the door not registering as closed causes the interior lights to remain on, the doors not to lock and the occasional dinging that the door is open. Although capable of being driven this makes the car unsafe as the doors are impossible to lock when the vehicle is in motion at any speed and the interior lights remain lit making it very difficult to see at night.

The door ajar sensor on the driver side door fails to function properly making the vehicle react as though the door is open even though it is actually closed. This prevents the doors from locking and prevents the dome light from turning off. The door ajar alarm and light will not stop alerting the driver to the problem. Because the doors will not lock, there is a danger to driver and passengers while moving. When dome light fails to turn off, the car battery can run down preventing the car from starting.

With the driver door closed, display shows door ajar and the dome lights are on. The car doesn't lock the doors too. It is dangerous to drive with the lights on straight in your face! this a security failure and seems to be epidemic on Ford cars. Dealers are charging $400 to $500 to replace the faulty switch inside the door latch. Ford should recall as a safety matter and do the repair for free.

Driving down the road when my sensor indicted that the driver's door was ajar. I pulled over to the side of the road and slammed the door multiple times. The sensor still told me the door was ajar. This will not go off. It has been two weeks now. The dome light will also stay on draining my battery. Ford needs to recall the sensors. When I look on line there are multiple other driver's door sensor issues with this vehicle. The chime warning is constant. Please recall these so I can feel safe in my vehicle!
