Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

When starting and shutting off the car, the "driver door ajar" warning comes on and interior lights will not shut off. You have to continually slam the door to get both to go out. Sometimes the warning light and interior lights come on while driving. This makes it extremely difficult to see the road when it's dark outside. I almost went into a ditch last week because of this issue. I started complaining about this issue while still under warranty but the Ford dealer did not fix it. Now they want $500 to correct the problem. Ford should be accountable for this known safety issue - not the consumer.

The driver's door sensor is malfunctioning. It alerts you that the door is open when it is clearly shut and shut well. I believe it is the sensor. The sensor is in the door panel and not easily replaced. This problem causes the lights to not go off and door alert to stay on, in effect distracting the driver and misinforming them of a problem. This may affect the car doing other things if it thinks the door is open when it is not. This happens when vehicle is stationary and continues while moving. It is not an adjustment problem with the latch.

Door ajar warning keeps coming on, sometimes when your first get in the car it will not shut off, dome light is on, will also come on while driving eventhough there was no sensor light on when first driving, shut door several times, soft or hard and will not go off, very annoying since the sound goes off that indicates door is ajar, cannot lock doors when this happens while driving, at night the dome light being distracts from driving and harder to see the road, took to dealership they could not find problem since it was intermittent, now it happens more than not. Please recall

The driver side door latch assembly has went bad and it is a problem that Ford refuses to address. It keep the light on in the cabin of the car and the door doesn't lock appropriately for safety.

Safety issue with door ajar warning, dome light stays on, door does not lock while driving. A warning chimes " put back in park." The doors cannot be locked from the inside. Slamming the door to eliminate warning ┐door ajar┐ risk injury and damage to other components. Research shows a long standing nationwide problem and no recall. To the dealer it goes to provide safety to the family.

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. While driving at any speed, the driver side door ajar sensor failed, which caused the dome light to remain illuminated and drained the battery. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.

Door ajar warning, dome light stays on, door does not lock with key pad, door does not stay locked from the inside. When closing the door, the "door ajar" warning lights up on the instrument panel, a warning chimes, the dome light stays on, and the doors cannot be locked from the inside (or when existing the car, the keypad becomes inoperative). No amount of slamming, closing gently or multiple closing of door rectifies the condition. Have taken car to dealership, they weren't aware of any problem, said there was dirt build up, so they diagnosed the problem, cleaned something and charged $120 to tell me to keep the lock mechanism clean. That lasted for about a month. Still having problem with the "door ajar" warning light

Faulty driver door sensor. Always shows door ajar which then drains the battery. Ford replaced it when under warranty only to have it go bad again out of warranty. Ford is well aware of this problem and will not recall a defective design. Charging customers $500 and up to fix the problem with no guarantee it won't just happen again.

problem #200

  • miles
Even though the driver's side door is properly closed, the door ajar indicator light will all of a sudden come on and then the interior lights will also come one which is very hazardous if you are driving at night. Also when this happens you cannot lock the doors which makes it not safe for children or adults with disabilities whom may be a passenger in the car as well. Sometimes you have to slam the door about 15 times before it stops or it might not stop at all.

  • 51,000 miles
2012 Ford Edge with 51,000 miles. Driver door ajar warning keeps coming on when door is not ajar both when vehicle is moving or not moving. I can open and close the door several times and sometimes it will go off sometimes it won't. it will even come on 20-40 minutes after I've been driving at times when door has not been reopened and closed. It even came on after the passenger door was opened and closed, driver door ajar not passenger door ajar. Whenever I stop, the shift to park warning also comes on wanting me to shut my door so I have two warnings beeping at me. Interior lights will not go off until I start moving forward so I can't see behind me backing out of driveways and stalls at night which is scary. I have gotten to where I just ignore the warnings as many people do with their check engine and seatbelt warnings knowing my door is closed. But what if one day it actually isn't closed and my door does come open while driving causing an accident and injury" I did purchase the part at a cost of $210.37 as Ford refuses to pay to have this fixed saying it is not a recall or safety issue. The warning lights are safety features but this is not a safety issue"

problem #198

  • 21,000 miles
Typical "door is ajar" error message. Upon closing the door, the error message "door is ajar" pops up and the dome lights stay on with the chimes ringing. I also have a problem with the error message "shift to park". I believe these could be related. Ford dealer replaced the switch assembly but this didn't solve my problem. This needs recalled as thousands are experiencing this saftey issue with this vehicle!

problem #197

Oct 012015

  • miles
At 46,000 miles the driver's side door sensor isn't operating properly. When the door is shut, the sensor thinks the door is open. This causes the interior lights to stay on until you get to more than 15mph. It also causes beeping from the warning indicator telling you to shift the vehicle into park. This sensor is part of the entire latch assembly & not covered under warranty after 36,000 miles. It is very distracting as each time the sensor thinks the door is open and you come to a stop, the warning indicator beeps and says to shift into park.

problem #196

Aug 202015

  • 75,000 miles
The driver door ajar censor would not go off despite the fact that the door was actually closed. This caused my dome lights to stay on, the car symbol to stay illuminated on the panel, the doors to stay unlocked, and the warning tone to sound while driving. All of these issues occur while stationary and while in motion. I had the par replaced at the dealership for $387 and after one year and two weeks the problem has started to reoccur in the same fashion.

problem #195

Oct 192015

  • 42,000 miles
Door ajar light came on and would not go off. Slammed door multiple times and problems still existed. Spent $454 dollars to repair the problem. About one month later, purchased 4 new tires($846). Then, in 2 weeks, tire pressure sensor default light came on and would not go off. Had to replace to the tune of $130.
