Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

Driver side door ajar issue- when the door is closed the door ajar light will come on while driving or while parked. The interior lights will stay on even while driving at night. The door locks will also not stay locked. This will happen whether driving on the highway or in the city. Every time you drive the car this will happen. When the car is turned off and parked the interior lights will stay on. I have to open and close the door several times in order for the lights to finally shut off.

Door ajar light stays on when door is fully closed. This is a known issue by Ford they even have a technical bulletin on the issue. Many discussion on line exist about the same condition. These are not old vehicles. This is a safety issue and should be recalled. 1. interior lights can come on due to this issue at any time causing a blinding issue while driving at night. 2. unable to lock doors while in vehicle. 3. unable to know if the door is really closed properly. 4. three warnings continue to pop up continually while driving that engine is on, shift to park and door ajar. Please request that Ford does the right thing for safety and recalls this defective part.

While I was driving my vehicle, I completely lost power. My car was driving on its own, about 2mph on the road, while everyone else was driving 45mph. This happened suddenly, and my car was not able to stop when I was at a red light. This was an extremely scary situation because while I was driving, my car suddenly stopped. The cars around me could have easily collided with mine, especially when my car was not able to stop until I was able to get off the road and put it in park. While my car was in park, it was shaking. I had to get my car towed to a dealership where they proceeded to tell me that I have a throttle body problem. This is something I never heard of. But to know that at any time, my car can randomly stop on its own is scary. I was told that Ford is aware of this problem, but it has not been recalled. Ford has a duty to make sure that its product is safe for the ordinary consumer. A breach of that duty is putting an unsafe product out there, aware of the problem, and not taking remedial measures. Someone can lose their life by a car completely losing power on the road, and that life could have been mine. Something needs to be done to fix the problem that Ford is clearly aware of.

The driver side door shows it is ajar when the door is closed. This will not allow the doors to be locked while driving. Also the interior lights will not turn off. This a major safety hazard both during the day and night. Reading online a number of complaints have been made dating back to the 2011 models. there dozens of posts online regarding this same problem but yet no recall to date

On Y 2013 Ford Edge sel AWD with 36,600 miles the door ajar indicator stays on, even when door is closed and latched. This causes a number of issues: The door chime sounds when car starts in motion, which is very annoying in stop-and-go traffic; doors will not stay locked, which is a safety concern; interior dome light stays lit at night when first starting in motion, which is a safety issue. I was hoping that the issue, which obviously is a manufacturing/design defect, would be covered in a recall notice. So far it has not and I hesitate to pay several hundred $ for a dealer "fix" that does not really resolve the problem.I have read that the cost (parts & labor) is in the $400. Of course this problem comes up just as the vehicle goes out of warranty due to mileage

  • 37,000 miles
The switch that controls the circuit that detects if the driver door is closed or not is defective. An internet search shows this is a common issue on these vehicles. It is a safety issue in that the doors will unlock (including the rear doors) automatically while the vehicle is in motion. Also, due to the vehicle believing the door is open, it will drain the battery and leave the car unable to start after parking. This happens while the vehicle is stationary, or when moving, and will even fail while driving even after closing the door many times to ensure the switch ends up in the right condition. At times, it takes 30 or more open close cycles for the switch to operate correctly, but will sometimes "open" again while driving down the road.

  • 42,000 miles
Door ajar warning keeps coming on when the door is fully shut. When it is showing, the car is unable to lock the doors as the car is moving and the lights stay on making it very difficult to drive at night. Not having the doors lock is a major safety issue as we have young children that ride in the car. Also, it allows others to open the doors unexpectedly. Ford should stand up and fix the safety issue. Beyond the safety issue the battery is being drained as the lights stay on and we don't notice it until we go to use the car again.
