This happened on both 2001 Ford Escorts I own. So much for 'Ford tough'. Left unattended, the headlight housings gradually sag out of the plastic surround formed by the grille and lose their aim. The rubber housing trim slips out of place. This is a design and materials flaw. There is no way the thin plastic straps can hold up the entire front end of the car. they soon crack.
