I was just saying how great this 02 Ford Escort has been, on my way home from work, made a stop, when starting back up, CLANK_CLANK-CLANK! Turn it off, No crack! had to tow. Repairman said, "The o rings on the rods were made with GLASS infused metal, that chips of slowly"! Seeing the spark plug chipped he said, it's bad. RUINED, BLOWN engine! "The GOOD news, he said is they started making the replacement parts for it out of all metal, but, most of the time the engine or rods are too badly damaged to replace it and would cost more than $1,500 if it had been done prior to knowing. What kind of back bassackwards fix would that be from FORD? There SHOULD have been a re-call! REALLY! Glass infused metal against moving rods!? They HAD to know what would happen? To junk and sell more cars?
I took a look on craigslist, found other escorts w/ "Blown engine" Decided to call them and ask. YEP same thing. Can find plenty replacement parts, no motors. But why would i replace the motor when it would have the same treacherous rings!? GAH! SUDDENLY Car-less from NO fault of mine regular oil changes all these years.. ugh! for what!? We've been had.
4 or 5 times over the past year it would shake and run ruff when started, I'd shut down restart. fine. Sometimes idled rough at red light. I asked the dealer WHY will my key cost $300 and WHY would if have a computer chip in it, when i have manual everything? They said anti theft. Sure, Escort is a hot car to steal?
