So I was sitting at my sons practice waiting on him to come to the car. My car was running, lights off, radio on and all of a sudden the starter was trying t engage. After shutting the car off it kept trying to start so I turned the key to engage it and put it in drive, all was on I got the to circle k. Tried putting it in park to get gas, it was making a horrible noise & left. Got home, my windows would not go up, my high beams came on while driving and I put my foot on the break put the car in Reverse & shut the key off then put it in park & I turned the lights off and it seemed like it made it all stop. I tried turning my light on it was making my car start no key nothing. I came out a hour later my car needed a jump and all was ok I drove today about 45 min parked fine no issues car shut off I come back out 35 minutes after I got to my sons, my truck was trying to start repeating so I disconnect the negative WTH is this & why is this going on its scary

Expedition 4.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 61,000 miles

The Expedition attempts to start while running, switched on or key removed. The radio doesn't work and the windshield wipers do not work during this time. Problem occurs during or after major rain. After reading other complaints similar to mine I believe water must be entering the system at some point; however we have had no visual indication of water entering around the windshield or other areas. A local mechanic could not identify the problem after running water all over the car for an extended period of time. Thankfully the problem usually clears up after a short time. The windshield wipers not working during a rainstorm is very difficult to contend with and I always disconnect my starter relay on the firewall before leaving my car in the garage or anyplace else overnight unattended. Please advise.
