I bought the truck August 99" with 24K on it as a lease truck. Oil change every 3K and periodic fluid replacement every year.

The truck ran well up to 178,000. The gear started sticking, brought it to AAMCO and they rebuild the trans, cost me$3500 that lasted 32K. First the reverse went out about a month ago (May 2011) then the Drive went out June 20, 2011. How long does rebuilt trans last anyway? This one lasted 32K about 2 1/2 years after it was rebuilt. AAmco on Rockville Pike and Wootton Pkwy.. Spoke with the owner named Keith.. he can't do anything about it.. "lots of moving parts".. he said.. A ford is a Ford I guess. Is there a better year and model out there?? Looking to give Ford Explorer another chance..
