timing chain tensioner went bad at 69,995 miles on 98 explorer, factory recall till 72K not honored by FORD as vehicle was over 6 years old. original price quote to fix was $800 changed to $1,200 next day still replacing same parts. have know choice but to pay. FORD appears to have a major problem with this timing chain tensioner design and good vehicle maintenances wont help I know. You think FORD would eat part of the repair for those of us who have low mileage but go beyond the year limit. 4.0 sohc engine is trouble, FORD knows it has many more issues besides this one, just go online.
