Despite the 11 year age of my vehicle, this vehicle has been maintained exceptionally. Talking with friends and cohorts in the automobile field, no one seems to believe that such a freak thing could have happened. This is not a frigging race motor nor do I drive it like one!! I'm extremely disgruntled with Ford Motor Company's response: FULL DENIAL OF THE PROBLEM AND ZERO RECOURSE!! Of course they highly recommended that I send it to one of their fine dealerships for proper diagnosis and repair!! Very Frustrating...

Explorer Sport XLT 4.0L SOHC

  • Automatic transmission
  • 140,000 miles

This truck ran great, drove great, rode great, and looked great, until the crankshaft broke. I have researched this problem and it seems that it is pretty common. Ford denies this problem despite thousands of reports. In every case I found the crank broke off clean behind the harmonic balancer. Until these trucks are recalled, my advise is DON'T BUY ANY VEHICLE WITH A FORD 4.0L ENGINE!!!!!
