Explorer XLS V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 150,000 miles

It started with 1 door not unlocking/locking and now all my doors are not working properly. Some handles are flapping. The door handle on the inside is not opening the door either for one door. My husband has spent over $300 dollars and a lot of time trying to fix it. I have 1 door that is a manual only lock and unlock rear door. But now that is starting to fail. I'm the original owner and did not have an issue until this last year. All the doors have an issue.

THE DOORS SEEM TO TAKE TURNS NOT WANTING TO UNLOCK! THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR EVER. AT FIST THE DRIVERS DOOR WOULD ONLY OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. THEN THE PASS. SIDE FRONT(SAME) THEN THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR WOULD NOT OPEN AT ALL! NOW THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WONT OPEN AT ALL AT ALL!!! BUT NOW THE REAR WILL, SOMETIMES!!

I FEAR FOR MY SONS LIFE!!!!! AND I KNOW THAT OTHER FORD OWNERS ARE FACING THE SAME!!! WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE HANDLES AND WINDOWS(HAD TO BRAKE TO GET OUT OF CAR) STILL PAYING FOR THE CAR! CANT AFFORD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP! EVEN LOST JOB BECAUSE OF THIS!!!(caused me to be late & BOSS DIDN'T BELIEVE)

Update from Sep 4, 2012: @@@ FORD EXPLORER/DOOR LOCK PROBLEMS @@@ MY 21yr old WAS STUCK, LITERALLY LOCKED IN HIS SUV!! HAD TO BREAK A WINDOW TO GET OUT! DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE OR FROM THE OUTSIDE! IT STARTED WITH THE DRIVERS DOOR AND OVER TIME STARTED HAPPENING TO ALL THE DOORS (EVEN BACK HATCH) I CALLED FORD ABOUT THIS ...AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SPEED CONTROL HARNESS DUE TO FIRES!! BUT COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE DOOR LOCK PROBLEMS.(THIS MAKES IT WORSE, EVEN MORE OF A SAFETY HAZARD & IS VERY VERY SERIOUS!!!) I WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER & TO SAVE THE RECEIPT. (About 800.00 per door x 5) THE ONLY WAY FORD WILL RECALL (THE DOOR LOCK PROBLEM) IS IF THEY HAVE SO MANY COMPLAINTS! I KNOW THERE ARE OTHERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME .....SO PLEASE EVERYONE, LETS ALL SPEAK UP AND *REPORT ANY AND ALL DOOR/LOCK PROBLEMS! SO FORD WILL RECALL AND FIX THIS MATTER. PLEASE BEFORE YOU &/OR YOUR LOVED ONES BECOME SERIOUSLY HURT/TRAPPED! WE DON'T NEED FATALITIES, JUST OUR VOICES!!

THANKS AND GOD BLESS!

NOTE:

NONE OF THE DOORS WILL OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE AT ALL! HAVE TO CRAWL IN THROUGH HATCH BACK(WINDOW)!!!! TO GET IN!!
