I have owned my 2001 ford explorer for the past 5 years with hardly a problem except if you count the back door (Drivers side) not opening from the inside, The map sensor just went about a month ago. Probable not bad for a truck that has 98,000 miles on it. But Then as i was driving down the road the day after New Years I was driving on the freeway getting off the ramp
I started to get into traffic suddenly my truck felt like it was going into overdrive and i was only doing about 30 mph. Then My o\d light started to blink. so i pulled over and checked under the hood . checked my fluid level in the transmission. And it was where it should of been at the line. So i shut the motor off for about 10 minutes and restarted the truck. Back into traffic again. No blinking light this time on the o\d. About five miles down the road it it seemed like the transmission was not responding.Like it whent into neutral. Then the o\d light started blinking again but at a steady flash now,Then it shifted hard and it started to drive normal again for about a
anther mile or so with no blinking light. Then once again the transmission started to put itself into overdrive every time i pressed the gas peddle. Now the light is back on all the time
I web searched for a solution on this, and was surprised to see so manyyyy people with the same problem .And not all the same year or make. It seems to me there was a flaw in the design of the transmission in all these cars and trucks from the begining. Ford really needs to take a look at all these complaints. Now i have to subject myself the
task of finding someone to fix this. And no doubt it will not be cheap. And with only one vehicle to my name, I will probably have to rent a car or something to get around more $$$$$$$$. Gone. If ford has known about this for a long time why have they not put a recall out, OBVIOUSLY THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG. Thanks ford. And Happy New Year.
