This was the 4th radiator we had replaced since about 37000 miles. we replaced it first in 2007 with an oem from ford. Then at about 52000 or so again with an aftermarket as i didn't want the cost of an oem.At about 61500 another leak, and the aftermarket supplier supplied me with a replacement. This was about feb.2009 and i did only have to pay the ASE certified techs labor at a reduced price. Then in late august it started to leak, so we began to investigate and found that thousands of fords have the same problem. Ford issued a new TSB and a new radiator to repair the problem but are TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE to any help to remedy the problem. I have found that the original and a/market radiators have no bushings and are rigedlu mounted in the radiator support. The new ford part and tsb shows the correct installation. My conclusion is that there was frame flex from the rigid installation! If you have a new radiator installed make sure it is the updated part number and the tech follows the correct tsb...

My 2006 Explorer had no problems until about 62,000 km, then it becomes very loud noise like a fan continuously running from the engine everytime the AC is on. After months my warranty expire my radiator is cracked and has to be replaced. I am very disappointed with Ford quality.

What the hell is wrong with ford? They say they are built ford tough well what the hell does that mean? I'm so pissed off to be paying for something and think that my warranty will cover all major parts that have to be replaced and then to find out that the one part that should have a recall on it is faulty and not covered under my warranty really pisses me off. To make matters worst Ford won't even recall the radiator after the countless numbers of customers have had to pay out of pocket to have it fixed. Well i promise this will be the last ford i purchase and i will be telling everyone i know and posting my complaint on my facebook so everyone will know that ford lies when they say built ford tough. That's some sh*t!!!!!

Left rear light started failure, the air consitioning would not blow cold, within one week car was overheating and blowing white steam. The radiator was cracked and had to be replaced. With all parts and service it was $1100. Now, the right rear light keeps failing, a/c blowing warm, car is overheating and they "say" it is that there is a leak in the water pump. They want $465 to replace the water pump and parts. WTH??? The car only has 50k miles.

I have had other problems with my Explorer that I have posted on this site, and this one is dealing with the radiator. I have never had a radiator fail before on me. I am very disappointed with Ford quality.

I took my Explorer to a dealership in Union City GA because it was making a loud noise like a fan continuously running when I had 34000 miles and was told they were unable to locate the problem and nothing was wrong with it. At 38000 miles the radiator was completely dry - took it to another dealership and the radiator was cracked and had to be replaced. Because I was in the extended warranty I had to pay $100 deductible which is stupid because it was under warranty the 1st time I took it. 13 months later, same problem and was told the radiator is cracked and needed to be replaced and had to pay another $100 deductible. This car is nothing but a piece of crap, the transmission has failed, the motors in all the power windows have been replaced, one of them twice now and various other problems. This vehicle has been at the dealership 10 times in 2 years.

Here I am back, it will take me all night to tell you what all have been wrong with this pile of crap!

They informed me the radiator was bad and they would send it off to be fixed. It cant be fixed so they ordered a different one, got it in and it was the wrong one. Now.they are telling me it is out of there hands that they have a call into the ford rep. and he is going to call them back. My truck has been in the shop now for one week. Finally today they said they have found one but isn't to be shipped out till 5-19-08, SO THEY would like to put a radiator from an 2006 off the lot into mine till the new one comes in. I said fine, do it!! However, they informed me that this is a reoccurring event on the o6 models and that they didn't know why. I got my truck back...........but only till one comes in.......They can have this pile of **** back!
