Water pump leakage I noted that my Ford was leaking fluid and took it in to be serviced. Upon review it was determined that the water pump needed to be replaced as well as the timing belt. Ford Explorer models from 2011 to 2016 had the most water pump issues. Consumers have continuously reported complaints with a few of all the models having leakage issues. I am not alone in this and it looks like several are indicating a class action lawsuit should occur as Ford knows this is an issue and has not completed a recall. https://www.vehiclehistory.com/articles/all-about-the-ford-explorer-water-pump-recalls The loss of engine coolant through a leak in the water pump can damage the engine. Without the engine coolant, the motor will overheat and lock up, causing the consumer to purchase a new engine. Ford Motor Company has repaired the issues when the consumer brings the vehicle in for service. No recalls have happened, so the customer has to pay for the repairs. Ford engines from this year have the water pump built inside the engine. When the pump fails, the coolant mixes with the oil shutting the engine down. A class-action lawsuit was issued, but there were no recalls. A recall needs to occur and Ford needs to fix for all impacted models and reimburse those who were impacted by this dangerous flaw.

The transmission went out in the car, because the Transfer Case was bad. I could have been stuck somewhere because of this problem. Ford needs to be more proactive on this. My daughter also had her transmission go out also. NOT OK!!!

When accelerating, an odor becomes prominent throughout the cabin of the vehicle. I can only describe the smell as exhaust. This smell usually goes away, or is too faint to notice after a few minutes. If this is exhaust, isn't there a possibility of Carbon Monoxide poisoning? At first, I thought the smell came from some kind of cleaner that the dealer had used when cleaning, but now over a year later, the smell still happens. Only after investigating this smell on the internet, I found that this appears to be a prominent issue with this vehicle.

This is the 4th time this has happened. When driving on the highway all of a sudden warning bells go off dashboard lights up indicating Terrain Fault. Power steering goes out almost causing me not to make my turn. I pull over and look and I have error about Power assist, terrain fault and one other I don-€™t remember. At this point I am under able to steer the vehicle. So I turn it off for a few minutes and restart it and what do you know-€¦. Everything is just fine. This is very sporadic and by the time I take it in to read codes none are there. When I speak to the dealership they act like they have never heard of this happening.

While my son was driving our 2015 Explorer on the highway @60 mph a month ago, the black mounding trim piece on the driver-€™s side windshield went flying off, along with a rubber strip that caused him to swerve lanes, almost creating an accident. Then, last week I was driving on the highway through a construction zone late at night when a large black plastic piece(the trim molding on the other side of the windshield) flew off the passenger side and a two foot piece of thick gooey rubber was flapping on my windshield. Fortunately, there were no cars behind me as it occurred, because it startled me and I swerved a little bit & had to quickly pull off the road and ended up have to pull off the flapping/dangling rubber piece because it would not be go back on and was slapping tar on my windshield and body of the vehicle. Ford has advised they want nearly $1,100 to fix the issue which I see from numerous other posts, and from 3 other Explorers I-€™ve noticed this last week alone in my neighborhood with the same exact defect problem. This is obviously a well known issue as per the numerous posts here, the comments from the two Ford dealerships I-€™ve been to and a Safelite Auto Glass Repair shop who advised they-€™ve seen many of these same exact instances on Explorers. It-€™s unbelievable that the NHTSA hasn-€™t required Ford to do a recall on these, and it-€™s despicable that Ford hasn-€™t proactively offered to replace or repair these for owners, - but instead seems to have no problem gouging consumers on repairs that they tell them they need to pay for themselves!

When I purchased this vehicle I noticed there was a fawl smell like rotten eggs or sulfer when you would push on gas. I mentioned it to the dealer they said they kneew about it and there was a recall to fix it. I brought it in a few times as each time they never seemed to be able to fix it. It made my whole family sick, headaches, nauseua, sleepy. I was scared to drive my family in my car. I looked up this incident to see if others had same issue and there were many across the board that all said the same thing and FORD would not do anything about this. I tried to trade my car in manytimes and have them do an exchange they did nothing. I am ready at this point to hire a lawyer and sue FORD for this. what else can be done

I noticed that I started to feel light headed and went to my doctor. At first it was thought to be my allergies. The condition only worsened to the point where I could not stand without getting dizzy. I could not work and had ringing and loss of hearing in my one ear. It was around this time that I started to notice a sulfur smell coming from my vehicle. The more I drove the car, the worse the smell got to the point where you could not drive the car. I looked into the situation after speaking with my step father who is a mechanic and he reported an issue with Explorer. I tool to the dealer and they said it was a different issue and that the warranty had just run out. I contacted Ford who said they would follow up and did not. I called them back and they are stating that there is nothing they can do. No warning lights came on in the car and if I would not have had my sense of smell I could not have been able to figure out what was going on and could have injured or killed myself or others for their faulty vehicle. I understand that vehicles break down, but this is a known issue and they did not issue a recall. The safety concern is still there and I could have killed myself or others because of their negligence and lack of concern for the safety of their customers.

Ford Explorer 2015 4WD (79,000 km), currently not covered by warranty or recall. On March 2020 while the vehicle was under warrantee with 70,000 km, I've explained to Ford dealer that there is steering problem appeared suddenly when driving, they made computer and technical check but no code arise, therefore, they informed me that nothing found and it may not repeated again. On January 2021 (the vehicle became out of warranty) - 76,440 km, the same problem appeared with warning lights shown suddenly (terrain management system fault, sservice advance trac, power steering assist fault) 'this happened apparently and suddenly while driving on highway as the steering suddenly stop working and moving and I couldn't control the car and was about to have a horrible accident. I've hardly stopped the car aside switch-off and restart it the problem disappeared and send it to the dealer who in turn checked again and informed that no fault is detected despite showing the recorded video to them of the said problem. The same problem happens suddenly many times while driving, it has appeared recently at 79,000 km (kindly see the attached snapshots). Till now, I don't know how to act as I'm spending a lot money for car check to Ford with no outcome whereas Ford manufacturer is not able to detect this fatal dangerous defect, and also it's not covered by recall despite being very dangerous on people's lives.

The windshield window rubber sidings are breaking apart on both sides. This is a safety issue because the window can fall apart while I'm driving. The second issue is with a recall on the panels on the driver and passenger doors coming apart. The Ford dealer supposedly fixed it but the passenger panel is coming apart what can I do with recall that I was informed has expired.

I received a letter stating that my car was being recalled back in November of 2020. I called empire Ford in new bedford mass immediately to make an appt to get it fixed. It has now been 2 months and I am still awaiting an appointment after calling them several times. They first told me it was on back order the pets, then a few weeks later they told me I should bring it in first to see if I actually needed the part. I told them there was a recall for a reason and I wanted the part changed. It was not up to them. I am still awaiting to hear back. They are the only Ford dealers near me and they are terrible. I have had several bad bad experiences with that shop.

The passenger cabin both front and rear has the pungent smell of exhaust whenever the vehicle is: - engine running and - either in park or drive and - either moving or stationary and - either highway or city driving and - going 0 mph, or 10 mph or 20 mph or 50 mph and - either turning or straight and - with the heat on or off and - with the air conditioning on or off and - with all of the windows sealed (up) the fumes seem to make us not feel well and make our eyes burn. There is something seriously wrong with these cars! so anytime the car is running exhaust fumes are entering the passenger cabin.
