The Dealer charged $52.17 plus 15% tax to check for the problem, which was a broken door latch.
(Done while removing my cruse control wiring on a recall, and supposed to be available in January)
They wanted $80 for the latch and $320 for labor. Didn't have it. I already had to pay the over $60 for the diagnoses and, wish I didn't but, I had my Ford syndrome daytime running lights module replaced which cost $189, ($120 for the module and $78 just to plug it in)
The sticking of unlock control caused me to press the remote unlock very often because sometimes it would unlock the door! Well murphy, guess what, it died. Not only that, but so did the passenger door actuator! Now it only buzzes but does not open.
Now I'm doing the repair myself. Local (Canadian) dealers want $170 for the actuator and $78 for the latch. I found ford U.S. dealers want $80 for the actuator and $36 for the latch. Wow.
After inspecting my latch, I found there are 2 springs inside the latch that pull the pinchers apart. One was snapped and the other had come loose, causing an alignment problem and jamming the unlock rod!
Good luck to all with like problems ... Rick
