Well, I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport and I have this real loud noise that sounds like the back door is coming off when you hit a bump or a rough place in the road. I had it looked at. It's the rear body mounts. They are gone and the little pieces that are left are like dust when you tough them. So Ford wants 500 dollars for the mount and a lot to fix them. This is the first time I have heard of a mount going bad and you can't get anyone else to try because of the risk of breaking away from the body.

Why is Ford not taking care of this. The way I see it, Ford made the car and they need to fix this before someone gets hurt. So Ford needs to man up and thank care on this problem. This is there fault, not mine. This is going to hurt their business. Take action on this to keep a good name, thanks

July 16. I was told tonight that all the body mounts have to be replaced. So OK, why is Ford not fixing these cars. It's there bad parts that cause the trouble. I know that if they don't do something about this I will never have a Ford again and will never talk good of them. I read on here about all the people that have the same car and their mounts are bad too. Ford needs to do something to fix these car before someone gets killed

Explorer Sport V6

My 2001 Explorer Sport has been making a lot of body noise. All the body mount bushings are crumbling and some are completely gone. I have never heard of a vehicle so poorly designed that the body mounts would not last the life of the vehicle. Ford should have recalled this vehicle. An internet search while find 100's of complaints like mine on 01-02 Sports and Sport Trac. The dealer wants over $1000 just for the parts and I have not been able to locate an aftermarket kit to replace these. The truck looks and runs great and I hate to have to junk it but it does not look cost effective to repair. This will be my last Ford purchase ever. If anyone knows of aftermarket kits please let me know as this truck is not safe to drive in this condition.
