(reported on)Explorer Sport Trac V6
Ford CLAIMS you can alternate between ethanol and regular gasoline, however ONE USE of ethanol in our Explorer caused the service engine light to come on and stay on. We were seeing various performance issues within 24 hours of first use, nothing earth shattering, but after 3 additional tanks of 'real gas' the light still refused to go off and the performance issues still existed. A private shop turned off the sensor and claimed we needed a $500 repair. The dealer claims it was a computer glitch and 'tweaked' the computer. Both were convinced that ethanol usage was NOT a factor... hmmmm, strange timing then wasn't it?
