I have a 2004 Ford 150. The window regulators keep failing on my truck. A window will suddenly start sliding down and then it will not go up. It has occurred several times and is unpredictable. It occurs while driving at highway speeds and is very unsafe. This is a known defect that Ford has refused to recall.
I am on the third window regulator in my 2004 Ford F150. All of these are on different windows and have cost me $351 dollars each time to replace. My complaint is why has this product not been recalled with so many people having these problems.
The power windows on Ford F-150 2004. I have had three fail on me while driving. All three failures have happened within a year, to three different windows. I bought the truck brand new, I do not abuse it, I drive to and from work on the interstate. The doors have all failed when rolling up or rolling down, all failed while driving. It is dangerous to drive this truck in the rain, because you never know when it will just quit working.
Window drops into door and can not be closed. Fixed first one myself for $150 part cost...........since then both passenger windows have dropped, one while driving, very surprised it did not shatter. Was able to close windows by insetting wood to wedge it shut......have not replaced motor yet for those windows.
2004 F150 supercrew problem: Windows rolling down by themselves both rear window(rl & rr). Cause: Problem was traced to the window regulator, or fault of. The white plastic clip holding the end of the steel cables (next to the pulleys) broke off. One end broke off causing the window to slide down by gravity and friction when in motion (sometimes still - I.e. overnight). If unaware of the situation, like I was when it first happened to the rl window, I used the electronic switch on the driver door to pull the rlwindow up but could hear the motor (on the regulator) eating away at something. After opening up the door, I noticed that the cable was being mangled by the motor. Two weeks later, the rr window had the exact same problem, the white plastic clip holding the end of the cable broke off from one end. Other end already cracked and barely holding on. It turns out that the parts used are bad and need to be replaced, actually need to replace the entire regulator. This needs to be replaced before something bad happens (someone can vandalize my car, or... what if I get into a bad accident and my 4 and 2 year olds are in the truck with me. What's going to happen then? I don't want to find out.) I want them to be all regulators replaced because there is no recall and I believe they will eventually break off. Two already did. They are a safety hazard.

Back window on drivers side door spring or something broke in door and window started to come down by itself my dog almost jumped out and would have been hit by a car. No reason that should have happened.
Well its a window regulator problem or the pulley system that rolls the window up and down. I've had my truck for about 4 years bought it brand new and im having to replace 2 window regulators so far. I hardly use my windows and I have noticed a lot of others having the same problem where there window falls down into the door making a loud bang. Luckily both times I was there to see it but if I wasn't I could of had tools inside stolen or the truck stolen. It would also have been very dangerous if I had been driving at the time the window slammed down into the door both times it has happened after I turned the car off and all of a sudden the window slams down. I see hundreds and hundreds of people on the internet that are trying to find a recall and there is no recall. The part by itself is 200 or more dollars that's if U fix it yourself. If U get Ford to fix it then its another 300 or more. The pulley system is cheap and plastic the cables are always in a big knot and chips out of the wheels for the cables. The new one I got looked exactly the same as the first one making it seem to me they aren't trying to fix the problem. I would like to know if a recall is going to happen it seems like it will be an ongoing problem.
My wife was giving and heard a load noise like she just got hit or hit something. She pulled over and notice the window on the drivers side of our F150 supercrew had fallen into the door. Nothing yet to fix it the part is $200 dollars alone without the cost of labor. And no old or used parts are available.
When driving on the express way at 60mph, with children on the back seat, the passenger side door, the window fall down inside the door. We were below 50 degrees. Child start to cry and scared me. This may cause an accident. I pulled over and change her to the other seat. Could not close the window. The window regulator not functioning. Dealer charges $150 to repair it. They say that it is a design failure on that part.
Loud popping noise driver side window just fell down in the door while driving down the road to my house. I thought I was shot at or something if I had been in traffic I would have probably hit someone it scared me so bad. It was the failure of the window regulator. It seems Ford knows they have a defective product on these regulators but has not recalled them.
2 window regulators have broken causing the window to drop into the door and not roll up in my 2004 Ford F150 pickup truck. First time happened in July 2008 (driver's side), and the second time (front passenger side) just happened on January 3, 2009. Both times while driving on interstate hwy while the windows were in the full up (closed) position. Both times I heard a loud boom or pop and then the window proceeded to slide down into the door. A mechanic at the dealer has unofficially admitted to me that this is extremely common with my make/model and year and that it was his opinion this was a defect. I was able to have a friend repair the driver's window in July, but have not been able to financially afford to repair the passenger side yet.
While driving in 100 degree weather, loud pop was heard as if something had been shot at the truck. Wife swerved and when she pulled over found nothing wrong with exterior of truck. When she tried to roll down the driver side window the window just fell inside the door and would not roll up. Forced to drive around in 100+ degree weather. Plastic part on window regulator snapped and because we complained about passenger side making noise both were replaced. Have two more in the truck and Ford dealer will not replace them until they actually break.
I own a 2004 Ford F150 and I just had the second window regulator fail as I was driving to work. While driving I heard a loud pop and all the sudden the window just fell into the door frame. The first window regulator went out approx. 6 months ago and cost approx. $350 to fix through a local Ford dealership. I am scheduled to take the vehicle in for service tomorrow to fix this problem.
In December 2007, the front passenger window fell into the door while rolling it up parked in the driveway. Paid $369 to replace the window regulator. In January 2009, back passenger window fell into the door while driving down the highway with my 5 year old sitting next to the door. It is currently in the shop having the window regulator replaced. Cost has not yet been determined.
2004 F-150 window regulator failure, both rear and front driver side windows do not work and my vehicle only has 38,000 miles on it, both windows failed within 2 weeks of each other and the driver window failed when the vehicle was parked, the window fell down into the door so hard it set the car alarm off, had I been driving this could have been a significant distraction and safety hazard, Ford refuses to acknowledge a problem with these window regulators but I have found numerous complaints/failures on the web where folks were driving and the window fell into the door and in some cases shattered.
The problem is with the regulator assy for the windows. The first was the drivers side window with 37,513 miles. I asked dealership if warranty could pay for it and it was covered even though the 36/36 expired. The next window was the right rear (fell down into the door just like the front driver side) that was on 8/14/08 and 57,916 miles. I had to pay $342.55. Now it is 12/23/08 and the right front passenger window fell down into the door. I called the dealership and they could not help me until tomorrow. Now I have plastic and duct tape on my truck. I wanted to file this because I know there have been other complaints on this matter.
I opened the driver's side front door of my 2004 Ford F-150 with only 27,000 miles on the odometer and I heard a clunk sound in the door. The window was no longer in place and had fallen into the door. Took the door panel off and confirmed that the window regulator had failed prematurely. It should last a whole lot longer than it did. I read online that this is a widespread problem, latent defect in the design, and Ford will not fix it once the vehicle is out of its basic warranty. I need Ford to recall the vehicle to fix this latent defect.
Sitting at a stoplight, hear a loud pop in drivers side door, drivers side window falls down into the door. Took truck to the dealership and regulator assembly has failed - $450 for parts/labor. This has happened to numerous Ford F150 owners and I'm afraid it will happen to my remaining windows. Dangerous to have windows fail and collapse into your door at any moment - poorly engineered by Ford - needs to be recalled.
