I AM A SINGLE FAMILY ON LOW INCOME BASIS. I WENT TO FORD FOR A CAR. I LIVE 110 MILES FROM DEALERS FOR REPAIR. TO TAKE OFF WORK COSTS ME MONEY WHICH I CAN NOT AFFORD TO LOSE. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES AND IT TAKES 3 WEEKS OR LONGER TO GET PARTS OR PERMISSION FROM FORD TO DO THE WORK. IN THE MEANTIME I DRIVE 1500 MILES A MONTH JUST TO GET TO WORK AND I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA. NO ONE STOPS IF I BREAK DOWN. NO TRAFFIC IN MY AREA FOR 12 MILES. NOT GOOD FOR ME. I ONLY HAVE ONE CAR, IF IT BREAKS DOWN I AM SCREWED.

when I bought the vehicle I had it for one week and had to take it to the body shop to have the transmission supposedly repaired..the vehicle would rattle loudly, shake and feel like it is going to stall. I was told that the transmission was bad and that they had to order the part which was on back order. It was on back order for a month, so I was without my vehicle for a month. Six months later it started doing the same thing. This time Ford body shop said that they had to update the computer..was without a vehicle for another 2 weeks..Now I had to take the vehicle back in for the same exact thing. The car rattles loudly feels like it is going to stall and hesitates when i go from stop to start. I am scared when I come to a light thinking that it is going to stall and end up getting into an accident. This time they are telling me that they had to order a clutch for it and that it will be about a month before they get it in...It is so frustrating to have to take your vehicle in every 6 months for the same exact problem that should have been fixed. I am so disappointed in Ford. Now I am driving a vehicle that may or may not be safe for me to be driving because of the delay in getting that part that is needed on their defective product.

This is a road hazard! Safety should be Fords 1st priority but obviously it is not! When the car is moving at a faster speed (30+mph) it is not too bad. When stopped and you start off it hesitates, especially dangerous when turning into traffic. The car gets no speed, it jerks so bad my back hurts. The dealer said they "think" it needs a new clutch. Apparently this is very common because the dealer said the clutch is on back order and it could be several months before they have one in stock.

I really regret buying this car, I never thought it would give me this much problems. The transmission is awful always jittering, hesitating. Clutch burning out unusually fast. the sad part is that the dealer only is replacing this part, but is not fixing the problem. In a 2 1/2 years this clutch has been replaced 3 times. It jerks when I accelerate and I feels absolutely unsafe when driving specially when you have to stop. I hear a squeaking sound.

MY main problem/issue is that when my extended warranty ends I will end up with this costly repairs when I truly feel that is unnecessary. To me this is a lemon car and don't understand why FORD is not doing a damn thing about it. I feel like I threw my money down the drain when I bought this car.

Now we need two more clutches - for the third time. But, Ford is making totally new clutches that will solve the problem for sure this time. Only problem is they won't be available for a month.

Called 5 weeks later; seems like there's a long waiting list for the new clutches so I have to wait another 4 weeks to maybe get the repair. In the meantime, there's nothing to worry about, the car is completely safe, I am told.

Odd, because the first time they fixed it, they told me it would have been dangerous to continue driving the car.

My car is 2 years old with 52,000 miles on it. For the last 2 months the "engine malfunction" warning and wrench has been intermittently coming on while I'm driving down the freeway/road, and when I shut the car off it goes away. Yesterday the light came on and stayed on, so I had my mechanic look at it and diagnose the throttle body as needing replacement.

He informed me that Ford should cover it since it falls under the 5 year 60K miles. He also told me that regardless of that, there was a TSB issued for this part and that there definitely shouldn't be an issue with getting it fixed. Not the case!!! Camelback Ford told me that it has to be looked at by a "Certified Ford" mechanic, and that if THEY diagnose it as being something else, then I would have to pay for them just to look at it! Camelback Ford also told me that there was never a TSB issued for my car!!! Why am reading about TSB's for this same part for other Ford models? That's fine - if they want a Ford owner driving an unsafe car and risk hurting themselves or other people, I'll make sure my next of kin know to SUE Ford if anything happens to me related to that part of my car until I can pay to fix their own problem. And you can bet that I'll have my OWN certified mechanic fix it, and not Ford, because they're not getting one more dime of my money.

FORD HAS DENIED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHO EVER DESIGNED THIS SPECIFIC TRANSMISSION FAILED AS A ENGINEER. THE DAILY DRIVING OF THIS VEHICLE IS A HAZARD. WHY YOU MIGHT ASK? 1.IF YOU ARE STOPPED AND WANT TO TAKE OF FAST YOU CANT BECAUSE IT SLIPPED AND JERK YOU. 2.ITS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE YOU MIGHT BE THE GOOD DRIVER BUT THE OTHER MIGHT NOT BE AS GOOD AS YOU ARE MEANING THAT THERE IS ROAD SITUATIONS THAT REQUIRE THE VEHICLE TO RESPOND AND BECAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION NOT ENGAGING LIKE IS SUPPOSED TO BE YOU ARE RISKING YOUR LIFE EVERY TIME YOU GO ON THE VEHICLE. 3.FORD HAS TO UNDERSTAND THAT US AS CONSUMERS OUR DAILY LIFE HAS NOT TO STOP BECAUSE OF THE VEHICLE BEEN ON THE SHOP THEY SHOULD GIVE US A RENTAL CAR OR LOANER WHILE ON THE SHOP THAT WAY OUR DAILY LIVES ARE NOT DISRUPTED BY SOMETHING THAT THEY CREATED. 4.FOR ME TO TRUST FORD AGAIN THEY HAVE TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION TOTALLY WITH ONE THAT DRIVES LIKE ANY OTHER NORMAL CAR.

Since my initial transmission issue in the Fall, I've had to take the car back to Ford 3 times. The transmission would slip out of gear - while still in drive. The Transmission Control Module (TCM) was supposedly bad - it had a bad battery - I was told. The TCM was replaced - after Ford attempted to reprogram it. The battery has been replaced - twice. "The car acts like a girl" was what I heard from Ford. If I had a girl like this, I'd look for another girl. Twice I've been on the highway, and have had to pull onto the curb, turn the car on/off to get the transmission to start working again.

I bought a battery charger - it's hooked like a life support system - every night. Why? The old battery - the new battery's - they all lose power within a day and need to be recharged every night. Why? Well, the TCM uses as much battery power needed to counteract the terrible transmission issues. The battery can't keep up. I thought I had a semi-solution with the night re-charging, however, it still has bad days. Sometimes it hesitates, knocks - until I get up to a decent speed. Maybe it is like a girl.

Oh, and let's not forget what happens to the front panel display and radio! The headlights flicker, the radio shuts off - lots of lighted displays on the front panel.

Bad rotors, bad batteries (supposedly), a BAD TCM (supposedly). I guess it could be a bad alternator - the only thing that hasn't been changed. However, the night charge routine doesn't really help - so... Oh, by the way, there are lucky days when it runs OK. Can't be counted on, however, and I would never take this car further than my own city.

Williamsburg Ford does seem to have done all it can to fix this disaster, however, there just doesn't seem to be a solution to this car. AVOID Ford Fiestas AT ALL Costs! I've been lucky enough, so far, to be able to pull off highways at 70 MPH. YOU may not be so lucky. BEWARE!

Fiesta 6L 4 cyl

After just a few weeks of purchasing my new Fiesta, I noticed a problem with acceleration. I endured the speeches from the Service Dept. about how this model was a standard transmission that they've transformed into an automatic to give it that "sporty feel". I have had it in for several recalls, not related to the transmission and NUMEROUS times for the transmission problems: Lurching, hesitation, rattling, etc.. Most of those visits involved software updates that remedied the situation for a couple of weeks! The dealer Service Dept. has been great and very apologetic, stating that "2013 was a bad year for the Fiesta and the Focus". Somehow that doesn't make me feel better when I'm writing my $325.00 monthly payment!! I've gotten a rental car each time, but all that hassle really doesn't fit into a daily work schedule! And what happens when my warranty is up in August??? I'm not a wealthy person. On January 6th 2016, a light came on - TRANSMISSIN HOT, WAIT 5 MINUTES....the car was jerking, lurching, RPMs racing at 10 mph. Anyway, I chugged my way in then next morning at 7:00 am and was told the parts would be in in 6-8 weeks, and I was lucky cuz it used to be 8-12 weeks, no rental car provided and should continue to drive it! I explained that was not possible. After driving it, the service manager concurred! I got a rental car and 6 days later I have more software updates, a new clutch, actuator forks, and my seals have been replaced. Wow,how long will it run this time? Shame on Ford. Shame on American workmanship!

  • Automatic transmission

I bought a 2013 Ford Fiesta on August 14th and have been driving it since then. I have noticed that it tends to hesitate a little when I accelerate and noticed this more in October 10th while stuck in traffic. It was as if I didn't release the clutch correctly and it's an automatic. I had two passengers with one knowing a little about cars told me I should have this checked out.

I'm still driving it and really haven't noticed much of a problem especially when I shift my foot on the gas pedal to the middle as I have a habit of driving with my foot lower on the pedal, so I just thought that might be the reason. I've checked Carfax and there was only one owner that appears to have leased it and there were no repairs or accidents reported. It is still under warranty until November 14 (three months in New York state) and I have also purchased additional coverage for repairs that don't include oil changes, etc at $100 deductible. I'm just wondering after what I have read here if I should get it checked out or if there has been a recall for this vehicle. Other than that, the car seems a joy to drive.

I took my Ford Fiesta to the dealer to have checked and they said nothing was wrong, that's how it was suppose to be ...The transmission jerks and a couple of times when i get ready to go it want go. This car is one of 300,00 +Fiestas and Focus that have this transmission problem. I bought it used from Carmax in Reno with 28,000 miles on it. Almost immediately noticed shifting problems. Called Carmax and was told it was the "nature of the vehicle". Finally found a recall on line for the transmission and took it to Capital Ford in Carson City, Nevada on July 20, 2015. I was called the next day and told they needed to order parts and it would be a couple of weeks. The car is still there (today is August 11) and I'm told it could be 8 more weeks. I called Ford Customer Service for a rental authorization (as suggested by the dealer and was denied a rental). As of today I am still "negotiating" with Ford Customer Service.

I think this would be a good opportunity for Ford to get some positive PR if they grant rentals to all the people in my position. Granted it could cost hundreds of thousands dollars for these rentals, but the positive PR in taking care of their customers would be tremendous. FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND TAKE CARE OF US

I feel for the local dealers that caught in this mess because they cannot get the parts they need. I believe the dealer that has my car (a small dealer) has around 30 cars waiting for parts. THAT'S RIDICULOUS ON FORDS PART. GET THE PARTS MADE.

Update from Aug 12, 2015: We got a call yesterday, August 11, that the car was fixed and ready. Picked it up today, August 12, and drove it home 35 miles from 4,500 ft elevation up and over 7,300 ft pass and down to our home at 6,200 ft. Transmission did not miss a beet. Performed better than it ever has with me.

I guess my "squeaky wheel" approach with Ford helped. The people at Capital Ford in Carson City were GREAT. Definitely recommend them for sales and service.
